Interesting suggestion - customization is something we like to encourage (this the profile picture and signatures).

To ignore someone, go to your "MyStuff" page and click on "Edit My Ignore List" in the lefthand column -- there you can add any user name to your list.

To remove a name from your ignore list, click on (Remove) under their name.
