Personally, I think you you have a great speech (and banner), but, I don't know you that well, you may have the best intentions for scratch, or you may just be making a pretty speech to become a moderator (not saying you are making a pretty speech to be a moderator, just saying it's a possibility)

Personally, I think you should be more active in the community, let people get to know you, and perhaps sometime in the future you would make an excellent moderator

Thank you deatheater. I fully intend to moderate to the best of my ability and integrate further into the community as time passes, hopefully I may have proven myself come the time of the election.

In my post in this thread, I said before that account dates can be checked by the Scratch Team (to my understanding, the forum date is not quite accurate at times). CVSH said that his account is about a year old, and all that is needed to to have the Scratch team confirm that.

Let's not start this issue all over again.  sad

Re: Vote CVSH for Community Moderator.

Hi CVSH,

I have a few questions and comments about your speech.
I was wondering what makes you think that scratch has had 'Dark Days'. I find it a little strange you say this because you've only had an account for a short period of time and haven't been active on the forums judging by your post count.

I am wondering if you're aware that a good portion (maybe even as much as half) of the community is from different countries (because you mention first amendment rights and your signature is very american.)

I would like to hear some reasons how and why you would make scratch better rather than just saying you will. I feel there's not enough credibility in your experience on scratch and in your speech. I would like to know more.

These "Dark days" I've been emphasizing, I have seen some bad things go on in these forums, for you see I have been lurking for quite some time, admittedly. Nearing the election, I knew I wanted to prevent these issues from coming up ever again. The negative nature I speak of even showed itself in this very thread earlier, unprovoked. I am worried for scratch, so to speak.

Yes, I am a proud American and have a strong desire to show it, however this does not affect my judgement of other countries. Everyone is equal when it comes to importance, even mods to users.

My plan for moderation is to eliminate the problems from their source; by keeping that spark of negativity that could start a flame war at bay, taking into consideration the emotions of others, and making sure everyone gets an equal treatment, no matter what their background is. I have many more plans, but I will leave my announcement of those to another day.

Well, to see if you've really been on so much,
Who was the Top Poster in May?
And also, you haven't been lurking, and if you have, it'd have been since May, not since last year, and I believe you have to have been a forumer for 6 months, not a Scratcher.

Hey, I'm a mod and I'm here frequently, and I don't even know.  tongue

It's possible to lurk on when not logged in. I do it all the time. Perhaps this is the case here?

Give me an example of when it's good to be ashamed

Do you think a murderer shouldn't feel ashamed of what he's done? You don't think he should think about it, and try to reform based on his fault?

The scratch forum is chock full of murderers so I totally see your point.

I'm not trying to say that they're like murderers, but I'm saying that if they've done something bad, they should feel ashamed. You're quoting this, Blade or Ace, aren't you?

So you want Scratchers to commit things that would be labeled as bad? We don't want bad things being done on the forum, and without those bad things, there wouldn't be a need to feel shame. So being Shameless is good.

Well, what is your original position? That scratchers should be ashamed because they come to the site? The straw man is the subject about the murderer, so technically, ace stopped that

Another straw man. I never said that. I said "they should be ashamed if they've done something wrong"...

I was saying that Ace was jumping to conclusions in saying that I wanted Scratchers to do bad things. What I meant was that everybody has done something bad, and it's healthy to feel guilty about that thing.

Here's the gist of our conversation:

CHVS: The community should be Shameless
Sunrise-Moon (SRM): Sometimes having shame is a good thing
Ace-Of-Diamonds (AOD): Like when?
SRM: Murderers should feel shame when killing people
AOD: [Sarcastic comment stating that you're comparing Scratchers to murderers]
SRM: It was just an analogy, I'm just saying if they do something bad, they should feel shame afterwards.
AOD: Of course it's good for them to feel shame after they've done something good, but it's bad for the community that they're doing something bad enough to feel shame.
SRM: *links to a Hannah Montana video*
