Re: The Anti-Love Song Discussion

metal is awesome. you wouldn't listen to justin beaver to get pumped for the big game, would you? besides being plain bad, new music doesn't really have any applications other than concerts. you know why kids bop makes those dance move cds? because it's too boring to just watch somebody just standing there holding a microphone. you don't have a problem with that when you have a guitar.

Some romance. On occasion, mild misogyny.

And, if you're mature (you probably are, because you're a TBG mod), than the only effects will be positive.

So are you the one who studies A level psychology?

Only for people who are too immature.

Er... no. Let me repeat myself. It's a psychological fact that music affects behavior.

Trust me, you just need to be mature enough to handle it, and it won't handle it. When music has an impact on mature people, it's usually positive.

This is a very interesting discussion.

No. As far as I know, you don't study A level psychology, or any psychology at all, for that matter.

No, I haven't studied psychology, but I think it's common sense, that if you're mature enough to handle something intense, it won't matter.

Well, for one thing, if you're mature enough, you wouldn't be listening to that sort of music. And another thing, music does affect behavior if you listen to it enough. Of course, if you listen to it just once it will have pretty much no affect at all. But if you listen to it constantly, like I constantly watched the Scott Pilgrim trailer, then it will affect behavior; like Scott Pilgrim's mildly done to me.  sad

Re: The Anti-Love Song Discussion

Well, they're discussing how music can cause people to become suicidal..
I guess they kind of go along?  hmm  Er. Not really.
Right, back on topic.

Well, don't use Korn as an example for Rock, Korn sucks. Having good Rock music, it's perfect. The Beatles Forever.
But anyways, Eminem is okay, but I don't really like rap.

Agreed.

Reagreed.  The beatles are probably the greatest band in history.
And Eminem is probably the greatest rapper.
With Eminem the misogyny is somewhat justified because he is such a good lyricist.  Also, it's not as bad as most other rappers.

If your mature enough you'll be able to ignore it, and pay attention to how good the music ACTUALLY is. Sometimes appropriate stuff can bore you to tears, and sometimes explicit stuff can be well made. Same vice versa.

What I'm trying to say is content doesn't effect how good the music really is.
