"Squeak is Low on Memory" Error

Recently (while programming Gods Quest 3) I ran into this error while trying to import new costumes.

Does anyone know anything more about it? Is there a work around?

Re: "Squeak is Low on Memory" Error

I get that problem while editing particularly long scripts... The only possible workaround - which doesn't work too well - is to make Scratch a higher priority in your system. Open the Task Manager (Control+Alt+Delete), and under the "Processes" tab, right-click Scratch.exe and make it of a higher priority. It won't make a huge difference, but it could fend off one or two possible cases of this bug.

It is quite annoying, really  hmm

try spreading the script out between scripts, like "script script script script [broadcast (blah)]" and on another script, "when i recieve blah", or something like that.

Re: "Squeak is Low on Memory" Error

I'm having a lot of trouble with this error. Any idea how I can fix it (I would try your suggestion coolstuff, but I'm running mac). Even when I tried delete half the sprites and saved it (I did not overwrite of course). It still gave the same error.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Well, try splitting your long scripts into shorter ones - it puts less strain on the computer to redraw the script every time you do anything that might change the display of the script. This will dramatically improve performance, at the expense of 1s1s, or more concise scripts.  smile

Re: "Squeak is Low on Memory" Error

After waiting a couple days and I was still encountering this problem, I opened up paint editor to see if that would work, and after drawing a square it seemed the problem resolved itself.

Therefore, I'm requesting this topic be closed.
