I completely conquer with this! There is no reason for 15 days of joining within the scratch community being a long amount of time, if your original intentions are good! Great idea!
DawnLight, do you mean the ' word "concur", not "conquer"?
LOL
@Rocdoc You were probably here before andresmh put this in
You are true, Mr_X.

They mean that it will cause people not to make unnecessary forum topics and posts to get 50 posts after they sign up so they can get a signiture.

Okay, I think someone said one thing somewhere, another person said another, everyone got mixed up, blah blah blah, I wanna clear this up.
Can we link to adoptables (dragons), and/or sites we made if they're non-profit??
If not, then I need to edit my siggy...

I say you should just have signatures as soon as people start out, because otherwise it's like, hey I created this account yesterday but I don't have a signature!
Or you could change it so you have signatures after like 5 posts or whatever, makes sure they're actually posting.

But the problem with making it 5 posts is that a commercial spammer could just post their link 5 times and then they have a sig to advertise in too.
I like 15 days personally, it gives enough time to see if that user is really in it for the long haul and deserves a signature.

That's way too easy for commercial spammers...

Hmm, maybe a combo of the 50 post rule and the 15 day rule for siggies?

That would be nice

I think it's very good approach. Now community members can easily share their thoughts without spamming

but... if no one interested with what they put in the signature, it's not annoy right?
All signatures have to comply with the Terms of Use for the website (so no inappropriate or offensive content is allowed in signatures). Aside from that: backlinks for commercial purposes (SEO spam) are a big no-no. There have also been cases where images in signatures had to be disabled because they caused other problems (such as epilepsy, or malware issues).

Well - you're a new Scratcher because in the past, we've had a lot of people come over here and post some pretty malicious links and just create account after account after we banned them. This rule prevents them from doing so.

Good! People would be making spam (like "fqjhshbh") on everything if we didn't change this! Like mine?

Sudden change of mind now. I now agree with the "50 post rule only gave spammers a goal" analogy

With all due respect, there are probably hundreds of other websites where you can have a sig in the forums without the wait. If they can't do it here, then I suspect that they would just move on to the next website on the list.

Maybe this can be closed... since there's a new system.

Should this be closed now that it is no longer applicable?

So this rule was changed so that New Scratchers now get a signature after they become Scratchers. I think we'll close this topic now since the new system is discussed in other places.
