Shouldn't the Scratch Team have decided when the election will be by now?

I remember sometime last week, one of the mods posted that the Scratch Team would decide "next week", so they should be deciding right now, right? It'll take some time... Patience, my dear friend! Besides, in the first post of this very thread, Paddle2See wrote this:
* No, I don't know exactly when the elections will be held. A determination will not be made before next week.
It is next week, but I think the moderator was roughly estimating the time it might take

Ah - that might have been interpreted incorrectly. I edited my post so no mistake could be made (particularly in the last sentence). Hope that helps!

Do they have a rough estimate?
1. I want this madness to end
2. Isn't it time already anyway?

Well, I don't believe there have been any official "plans" for the timing portion of the election, but then again, I don't do the planning. But I'd imagine the announcement will be made within a few weeks.
And it hasn't even been a full 4 months, so be patient.

Well, that is if they actually do decide to have a community moderator election.

I think adriangl meant that there may not be an election... Which is, of course, possible

With all this activity about the election, it'd be silly not to have one. xD

Please run, I beg you, I'll put you as #1, you'd make a great moderator! Scratch needs you, Jon, to be a moderator xD

>_< I don't want to be a moderator... ^_^
It's so much easier to not have to moderate and use the Report button whenever you see something. xD

When they choose, do they consider everything?
Actually, no
What would they consider?
A fair way to put it would be this question: how well does the Scratcher interact in the community and uphold ideal Scratch values?

Well, the thing is, we have a lot of moderators now, and with the upcoming school year, Scratch activity is likely to decrease (so it's possible there may not be a really big need for moderators, and so, there may or may not be an election). Other things to consider are if the moderators plan on resigning/the Scratch Team decides they should take a break (which could open up positions for an upcoming election, if any).

Oh, good point... I actually don't think we need new moderators; there are plenty of good moderators already, and they come on frequently.
But if they want to resign or take a break... ELECTION TIME

Yes, but it's a well-known fact that the majority of Scratch users come from the US of A, so obviously activity will decline during the school year.

You know, half of me keeps expecting the Scratch team to come out and say that all four mods will be keeping their positions and thus there wouldn't be an election. Wonder how that'd go down with the community after all this discussion...

I'd say the team would get flamed.

Or they could just let us continue with this possibly useless talk of election for several months, and then they reveal that there will be no election. By this time, we will all have figured it out and no flames will happen

When I first joined the Forums, I looked through the threads and looked for what was missing in the genre of guides. I first put together a guide that covered the basic uses of Scratch. In the end, it was a guide that covered nearly everything. You can find it here. Then I decided to start writing guides about making sprites and where to get good graphics etc; You can find them here and here.
I got great responses from coolstuff and more Moderators', but sadly they never got Stickied. I first learnt about Scratch when I was 12 and my brother introduced it to me. I'd been making projects for around a year before I learnt you could share games online! After discovering the Forums, becoming a Moderator was my ultimate goal. Here are some final notes to encourage you to elect me.
- I'm well spoken and polite.
- Being 14, I find it easier to understand younger users.
- I'm active everyday for nearly 3-3.5 hours.
- I have made lots of friends and introduced Scratch to many schoolmates.
- I love to show new users around!
A final note. Many of you may be thinking, '250 Posts?'. Yes, let me enlighten you. 'Quality is better than Quantity.' And in the guidelines for becoming a Community Moderator, I have been around for the right amount of time. So, I believe I am a well suited candidate for Scratch, but that is ultimately up to the Community and the Team! Please comment and remember...
Vote FlexiStudio for Moderator!
LINKS WILL BE UPDATED LATER WHEN I GET BACK FROM SCHOOL
