Let's have a FRIENDLY discussion about misogyny in music.
Multiple bands and artists such as Eminem, Ludacris, Korn, 3OH!3, Dr. Dre, and the list goes on and on, have been accused of promoting violence against women and/or portraying women as objects to satisfy men.
The most criticized genre for misogyny is hip hop. Women are often the subject of rap lyrics and videos, which often objectify them. Often people only blame black rap artists for misogyny, many white rappers have misogynistic themes in their lyrics too.
But all you anti-rap, rock lovers shouldn't be saying "I told you so", to rap fans. Rock isn't squeaky clean in gender equality either. In fact, sometimes it gets hip hop level. Just listen to "See You On The Other Side" by Korn. Some songs are showing a stunning lack of ability to treat females as people.
What are your opinions on this?
MINE: I'll admit, misogynistic rap and rock lyrics have made uncomfortable (even though I'm a boy). I have mixed feelings on this, but one takes my final decision. My first feeling is that I hate sexism. The second one is my strong support for Freedom Of Speech. I think my second one takes my final decision. Say what you want to say, it's a free country. And to add to that some performers that have misogynistic themes are very clever/talented (Eminem, Korn, and others). Just give me talent, and I don't care what else you give me.
So, let's discuss!

AC/DC and Guns 'n' Roses could be translated into some bad. I think KISS is mostly good. I agree with you on Metallica.

We ARE allowed to critisize other people's music. Esp. if it's evil like Country!
What I meant was no swearing, no racism, etc.

Country music isn't evil, that's only your opinion. And we're allowed to criticize other people's music ONLY IF we are being respectful when doing it. Swearing and racism are of course already not allowed anywhere here so why would you say them? It's common sense to not use either.

Well, don't use Korn as an example for Rock, Korn sucks. Having good Rock music, it's perfect. The Beatles Forever.
But anyways, Eminem is okay, but I don't really like rap.
Agreed.

I say that Country music is evil, because it increased the suicide rate.

I don't think suicide should be blamed on the kind of music the person liked.

I think you say it because it's not your personal taste in music.

Yeah, by like 0.005%. I bet rock music does a lot more.

There is no way to know it raised the suicide rate. The suicide rate may have raised when Country music was introduced, but that doesn't mean Country music raised the suicide rate.
Although, perhaps you know something I don't, in which case I stand corrected.

Not all love songs are sexist, so perhaps you should request your title to be changed? It may throw some people off.
