I disagree. Everyone wants their speech looked at, so they make a whole new topic for it. If we put them all in one topic, everyone will get bored of looking through them and the last few people who applied won't get noticed because everyone skipped them.

Almost the WHOLE first page is covered with candidate speeches. It needs to be organized. I agree.

Re: I think mass topic deletion/merging should be seriously considered.

I don't really see how we could effectively merge all the candidate speech topics together...they all have discussion and response posts of their own.  If we consolidated them, nobody would be able to figure out what was going on.

I'm not even really sure why folks are jumping into this campaign mode so soon.  I guess the community is in a campaigning mood - and it's good practice at reasoning out what makes a good moderator and who has those characteristics.

I do wish that people would take a step or two back and wait until the elections have actually been announced before launching their campaigns as all these topics are kind of dominating the forum.  But they certainly are enlightening  smile

I definately agree with deletion/closing. However I think people should get a warning before they get deleted, because people could have worked really hard on a speech and it might not have been saved.

I disagree. What else do we have in the miscellaneous forum besides meme spam and that sort of thing? We don't really need it cleared.

I noticed everyone else was doing this, so I made one to make sure I wasn't behind in the election if I become a candidate.

I'm glad to think that the community will always be kind and helpful, the language will always be a fun and easy way to be introduced into programming, the motto will always be: Imagine, Program, Share - Nomolos

Re: I think mass topic deletion/merging should be seriously considered.

I disagree. If we were to merge all the topics about the election, a lot of users who are running and their speeches won't get noticed, and that's not good. Besides, the election will be over soon, and the topics can all be closed/deleted then.
