It might be nice... but no, it will never happen. For one thing, how would scratch fit on the DS's tiny screens? And also, scratch will never have the money to release scratch on Nintendo DS! I do wish scratch was famous though!

lol I have a ds game thats more then 50 megabytes, scratch is only 40 something

I think it would be really cool to have Scratch on DS but I know it will never happen. The DS only has 4 megabytes of ram and I think 20 if you add the ram pack that comes with the browser. There are ways to run Java applets on the DS too but again, not enough ram means it runs very slowly. I'm going to start drawing sprites for my games from my DS because you can get very cool software with colour blending and whatnot. If you know how to get it to work the DS can do a lot of things but Scratch will never be one of them unfortunatly.

I honestly think putting Scratch on hand helds and other game systems are pointless. It is going to be hard to make a project using a PSP because you have to draw using an analog stick. then for the PS3 you have to use a controller. I think Scratch should just stay on the computer.

Actually PS3 has Linux so you could run Scratch on a PS3 ( I'm pretty sure there's Scratch on linux.. ). You could plug a regular computer keyboard and mouse in too!

I have successfully run scratch under wine on both Ubuntu and Fedora 9. The only problem that I am aware of at this point is that I can only run it once. When I exit the Scratch program, and then try to run it again, it causes my system to logout and restart. I believe that this is either an X problem or a Scratch-under-wine problem. This occurs under both Ubuntu and Fedora. Other than that, it runs fine.

Ipod touch and iPhone!!!! That would work much better...
See my topic on it

I have both a Wii and a DS and everybody knows they are both pretty awesome, but the problem for the Wii is that the sensing with the Wii Remote, it doesn't work the easiest. Also, the DS, I can't really get my Sensing there to work good, I mean when I want to touch a place on the left, I have to the the place a millimeter left to it. So Honesly , it wouldn't be that bad for either system. BUT NOT GAMEBOY! THAT WOULD BE STUPID!
If your DS is already in manual mode, then go to settings>touchscreencalibration.
If it's not, take out your games and go to the little button on the bottom.

The DS has more space than people think... the reason there arent many big games on DS is because the producers can get more money by putting their skills into PS2 or whatever. There have been games that might take up more space than scratch would on DS.

LOL. Your right Luciaro621, Gameboy scratch would really lack features, have bad sound, and not enough size to save much products. BTW, now I am planning to upgrade my gamecube to a wii....

Also a psp version wouldn't hurt.
Yeah!! The PSP can hold info and projects, and it has internet so you could UPLOAD

Also, I'm not sure that this helps, but supposedly if you take out the battery, and put it back in, it will reset the DS to the factory setting, when you first use your DS. I THINK there you can also calibrate the touch screen. I also think I have sort of the same problem. On my ARDS (Action Replay DS), When I type in stuff, it always alters where i touch to somewhere else, so the codes I enter get messed up...

I think it would be better for Xbox 360 because it would be really hard to place blocks together with the Wii Mote since your hand can sometimes shake a little bit and mess you up and have to try to place the block again.

It would actually be nice if Scratch were available for absolutely every sort of technology that can take it. That equals: Portable Scratch!

@Hobbs1100
Ohhhh, I want that so much!!! xD
Isn't someone doing that in a beta thingy?
@everyone
If there was to be Scratch for the Wii or DS, which sadly is not likely to get official support from MIT, Nintendo would almost definitely not put it out commercially. In other words, you'd need to do it with homebrew. I have a hacked Wii and an Acekart 2i for my DSi so I can run homebrew on both. However, it would require people to run homebrew, so you'll have to either hack or buy extra stuff for your console. (it's not that hard though.)
Also, the DS would be perfect as a scratch file player, the touch screen can act as a mouse and arrow keys and a/b/x/y/l/r/start/select could be mapped to keyboard keys. Also, you could put a virtual keyboard on the other screen instead! However, actually making Scratch files on the DS would be a lot harder, and it would require a lot of work for both users and the programmers.
Wii would be cool, and the advantage of doing it on the Wii is the bigger screen, wiimote can replace the mouse, and you wouldn't have to do it with homebrew, someone could make a flash program that makes and plays scratch files, then you simply open it in the Wii web browser!
