I will once again be participating in the election for the position of Scratch Community Moderator.
I have an original speech for everyone that I hope proves more readable than my last one (which appeared primarily as a boring wall of text).
The Basics:
Alright, I am demosthenes I have been an active member of the Scratch community for over two and a half years, I learned about Scratch in my typing class at school, and after looking over the program and seeing how supportive remix and creativity the Scratch Team was (even releasing their own program under the Creative Commons license), I knew this was the program for me.
After a couple of months I discovered the Forums and have been an active member in them ever since.
On the Forums:
So, I joined the forums and was, as many start, a rather thoughtless kid
, however, after two years of maturation I have become a responsible, respectful contributor of the Scratch community.
1500 posts later I was still helping in All About Scratch, Advanced Topics, Suggestions, and Troubleshooting. Although I've gone through several periods of inactivity, I have found myself unable to draw myself from the generous and kind Scratch community.
I like to think that well before the prospect of elections came about I had taken upon myself some of the responsibility of a moderator, choosing to help others when I could and have diligently reported inappropriate content and done anything else I could to help the community.
As Moderator:
As a moderator I would do what I have always (if perhaps more vigilantly). The only difference would be, instead of being forced to report problems I find, I would have the power to take action and deal with things I see instead of looking on helplessly, waiting for a moderator to log in.
If I were to become a moderator I would keep my humorous and positive outlook on the Forums and the topics within them, but I would also take more responsibility to keep the Scratch forums as friendly and welcoming place, as it was when I came to it, with only a handful of active members and sub-forums.
My Promises:
As moderator I will
-Keep forums clean of all inappropriate content
-Help new and old Scratchers in need of help
-Respond quickly to everyone's reports
-Move topics and keep the forums organized
-Prevent flame wars and stop trolls.
Miscellaneous (no not the forum):
Since there seems to be a big fuss about age this election, I am 13 (turning 14 in October). During my life I have been exposed to all sorts of things, and I am confident in my ability to remain objective, responsible, and mature even when faced with something I feel strongly about.
So you don't have to ask, I have read the ToU, rufflebee.
If you have any questions about me or my campaign, just post it here and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I am able to.
Despite my attempt to keep this speech shorter one it seemed, this one overflowed and is actually longer than my previous one, but ah well.

You got my vote, but I would wait for the ST to announce the election before going off and making topics to run
It doesn't even have a date yet

Ah, eve if the Scratch Team has said nothing yet about moderator elections, you have my support and vote.

Thanks Blade! Yeah, I was concerned about making a thread before the Scratch Team even mentioned the election, but I decided to go for it.

You would probably be my number 2.
I was surprised that you didn't win last time.

Thanks coolstuff and TheSaint!

I also made a new signature that advertises this thread. Any questions about me?

What's that tiny picture in the signature? A ghost with a scythe or something? o_O

That's one of the Sprites from my Gods Quest series. It will probably see a more prominent role in Gods Quest 3.

You and TheSaint. You two are by far the best candidates, and Demos, you are possibly the coolest most Mod without-being-a-mod guy ever. I think you are an excellent scratcher and sincerely hope you win!

So that project is still on?

I can see you being a good choice for a mod. But my main question is, what forum moderating experience do you have outside of scratch?

I really don't find forum moderating experience a real reason. It's something everybody can do, really. Having experience in forum moderating helps a little, but it's not the main issue.

Yes. Sorry I haven't sent any betas to anyone recently. I've been working on a large part that needs to be finished before the game will work again.

It is a main issue. And infact I know from experience from modding many many forums, ranging in size from huge to small, it does matter. The first time I was a mod I had no idea what the heck I was doing, or how to go about doing it. Being a forum user is one thing, moderating a forum is an entirely other. It is important, whether you want to believe it is or not. So yes, what experience do you have is a valid question, and I'd like it to be answered.
