Re: Can I update my existing project with a new one?

Your browser may have cached the .sb file and not reloaded it from the website.

Try refreshing the page, and if that doesn't work, try clearing the cache in your browser (there is usually a menu option somewhere in the browser menus for that—I think it is under Preferences/advanced/network in Firefox).

To clear cache in Firefox, go to Tools/Clear Private Data, then uncheck all boxes except cache.

Albango,

Please ask your questions in a new thread (go to the "All about Scratch" Forum and click on "post new topic").

The short answer to your question is "no".

How the heck can I try it without the apostrophes if the original does have apostrophes? Don't they have to be exactly the same? I tried it and it didn't work. A month later(just now) I tried it again. Help!

Try changing the name of the project online by clicking on its title on the project page.

Are you sure you aren't just being impatient? They should load eventually.

Re: Can I update my existing project with a new one?

spedster777: please post this type of questions on the troubleshooting forum. I think the problem is that you might not have Java installed.  Check this post: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=255

Re: Can I update my existing project with a new one?

To do so you CANT create another project well, maybe you can because just make the same name because it works and it helps too!

Re: Can I update my existing project with a new one?

If you want to update your project, just press the share button like you normally would, and have the name of the project be the exact same as the one you are trying to update. Keep your notes the same if you want them to be the same as well. If there were tags on the project to begin with, do not put the same tags on when you update, since it will add them in as a new tag, instead of replacing an old one.

If you upload a project with the same name as one that is on the website already, the new project will replace the old.

Question: i but my project in about 57 galleries. i really don't want to have to do that again. if i do what this, will all the information on the project also transfer to the new one?

When you update an existing project, your project is also updated in any galleries that it was originally placed in.  The projects in galleries are really just links back to the original  project.

You can change the name of a project when it is online at the website.  Just click on the name and edit it.  I hope that helps you with what you were trying to do.

Re: Can I update my existing project with a new one?

Help!!!!   I tried posting a project today "Escape" but it doesn't work on the website.  The green dot shows on the preview image but not when you run the program.  I tried changing the project by adding "show" and "bring-to-front" blocks to the green dot's scripts, but this did not help.  I then tried to download the program back from the web site and when I tried to open the file it said it was corrupted.

What can I do? the program works fine on my computer.

Sometimes when you upload to the website some things get screwed up. Try uploading again...

I found a bug!You start on sprite 2 ,then you go in control panel then you click on sprite 1 while keep an eye on[blocks]<when[ sprite 2 ]clicked>[/blocks]It will transform into [blocks]<when[ string morpf ]clicked>[/blocks]then into [blocks]<when[ sprite 1 ]clicked>[/blocks] sometimes! Is this normal?

Re: Can I update my existing project with a new one?

i have had a few problems with replacing my project "Another tube". the project seemed to not work online because of some color sensing that didn't sense right after the images were compressed. (at least thats what i think) i tried to replace it with another version of the project, but with other settings. it didnt work, and there were no errors  neutral

HI! Im dying to know what you think about my newest project! please chek it out!

You can try turning compression off as you share it and see if that helps.  It's an option on the Share screen.

You might have to clear your broswer's cache before you see the new version.  Sometimes shutting down and restarting the brower will clear the cache, it depends on how you have your settings configured.
