Well I wouldn't really look at it from that perspective.

Most likely more than 1 mod will win the election, so we essentially want as many people to win. And, the voting system will most likely have the users rank the list of users from most favorited to least favorited, so besides just voting for yourself #1, you do want to be honest for the others, so if you do lose, somebody good will win smile
