"9/11. No other event in American history can be labeled with so few characters. And few events in American history have changed the world as dramatically.
The acts of terror on American soil claimed 2,977 victims from more than 70 countries. It brought down the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center, iconic landmarks on the Manhattan skyline. It claimed the lives of more than 400 rescue workers, heroes.
It triggered two wars. It caused the creation or modification of several federal agencies.
It changed how we travel. It changed security and access to government facilities.
It changed the military, business, even American values.
In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, the war on terror was our top priority. Nine years later, those priorities are blurred: the economy and job market, immigration, crime, health care … a seemingly endless list.
Yet the war on terror is still there. And every year, on Sept. 11, we are reminded of that."

Please post remeberance to this infamous day in American History.

Yeah... my sig is pretty much designed around this for now. I have a soccer game today, and thought about taping an American flag to my sleeve, but it would probably fall off or something.

The refs would probably make you take it off.

That's another good point.
I saw some awful show on History Channel last night about 9-11 conspiracy theories. I got bored after 10 minutes.

Yeah... 9/11 was horrible. They were going to destroy the White House as well, I believe, but two heroes went in front of the plane and fought the terrorists, and drove the plane to another spot, but it was too late to get back in the air. But yeah, they saved the White House.
And it had an effect on me-I saw the Twin Towers before 9/11.

I think the whole thing was 4 planes hijacked; 2 going for the Twin Towers, 1 into the Pentagon, and the 1 to the White House that you said ended up crashing into a field near Pittsburgh.

Yeah. The terrorist had knives and went to the plane and hijacked the controls, going for suicide, and murder. Worst death ever. "I killed more than 4,000 people and destroyed the largest building in the world and suicided to do it! How much honor!"[/sarcasm]
And yeah, but I was surprised 2 dudes got the controls out of two terrorists with knives.

It wasn't just two dues. That entire plane became heroes by all rising up against the terrorists, and then crashing it into a field.

That was a terrible day. I only really know about the event through media and documentary's but boy do some of the documentaries send a shiver down my spine. One of the most shocking ones I've seen is "The falling man".
Image, just image how desperate the people in the buildings were. Preferring to jump and plunge to their deaths through a 15 second horror fall rather than chock to death and be incinerated by the flames. They were trapped. They couldn’t go up, they couldn’t go down.

I just set up my siggy for 9/11. I didn't know it was something special.
Today's not supposed to be a happy day. It's supposed to be a day of remembrance, and for some, sorrow.

I saw something on this yesterday at my school. And they showed clips of it falling.
If you think of all the people in there, it's gruesome.

Yes, this is a very sad day. Many innocent people where killed, some even committed suicide, just so a few could show they didn't like America? Not only did countless people did, This changed America. Now, you have to go through about 3 plane checks just go get on the plane. It started a war. Countries are fighting- because of a few people who just couldn't see the right in their actions and crashed some of my country's greatest prides.
Rest in peace, all those who couldn't make it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9/11_conspiracy_theories These theories are horrible. Our 2 countries have to make up....
And at the same time, reserve ourselves and what's important to us.

It makes me sad, so sad.

Just because they don't like the President at the time doesn't mean he will just decide to kill 3,000 innocents. Those people need to have some common sense, and do they realize how disrespectful that type of stuff is to the people who died?

The thing that makes me really mad is that the day that we lost thousands off lives just a few years ago, people are burning Qua'rans. That is not only disrespectful to them, but it also puts us at risk.
