I suppose it's good I'm not running.
I tried reading through the recent posts, and I got bored... ^^
I guess I'll have to try harder. A question though... (please answer): Which would you say is more important, having the dedication to be there or the dedication to read it?![]()
What exactly is "it"?
The posts maybe?
To be honest I rarely read all the new posts now... partly because of school (less time to come online ), and partly because I get bored/don't feel like reading sometimes ^^" I kind of skim for topics with interesting titles/seem to be getting a lot of posts very quickly/have reports about them/are unanswered/are stickies/iTopics/ex-stickies (which is why I'm here
)...
Hanging around reading/answering topics at leisure is my style of moderating... Scratch is a site I come to so that I can see what people are making, and generally enjoy myself. I don't really see moderating as a job/chore/whatever - it's something I do because I care about this community
EDIT: Sorry if that made little coherent sense...

Yeah, for the most part they've done a good job.
I think personally that one of my selling points is that even with school stuff, I'm still usually able to make time for Scratch to come on here and help out.Eh, that isn't that much of a selling point to me. Just be on about 1 hr a day average at least is good enough to be a good mod (though the more the better). More importantly is being a good role model and understanding how to treat the community kindly

Yeah, all those things are important. You be a good role model and know how to treat the community, but only have like 20 minutes a day to be here, so that couldn't work. And you could be on here all day, but insult a lot of other users and mishandle problems, so a user like that probably wouldn't get electted either.
I really just came up with that after there were all those threads about people saying they wouldn't be here as often. I did say personally, so feel free to disagree with me

Yeah, you have a point. However I don't know that many people who use the forums enough to know about the mod election who spend less than half an hour on the computer xD. Nevertheless, you are right.

I'm pretty sure it'll be around the middle to end of September.

Will this topic be used once again to announce the newer candidates?

No, this is just a thread for questions/discussion about the moderator elections. There will be a separate thread for voting and such.

So then the list of candidates in the first post should be deleted.

No, the new thread should just be named differently.

So then this topic could be closed. It's from the old election, and we're going to make a new topic for the next one.

I'd speculate that this one will be closed once the next topic is made.

I'd really like to run for mod, but I've got loads (and loads and loads) of homework so I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to commit very much of my time if I was elected. In fact, I should be working on Spanish right now... ¡Adios!
Aw... you'd be a good moderator...

Thanks. I really wish I could because I really like Scratch and I want to help out more, but I'm so busy. If I ever get less busy, I'll probably run, but that won't happen any time soon (or ever). Anyway, thanks for the support. You make me happy.

Actually, I randomly feel inspired after illusionist got banned and then got to be moderator. I got banned and I'm sure they won't put me as a candidate, but eh. I've changed, for the better. Maybe if I show it I could be moderator. Anyways, I won't get my hopes up.

On topic, sorta, I once considered running for mod, then I realized I was waaay too young to comit to a task that required so much responsibility, and I probably couldn't handle the "power" XD (Plus, I contribute too much to off-topic conversations, I have only a basic understanding of the Scratch program, and therefore wouldn't be able to help in all fields, I don't spend enough time on the main site, and, you know, bleh.)

I was once banned. And look at me now!
While I'm not awfully fond of the days when I was banned, I thought it was a really crucial beginning to my days on Scratch.

I gotta get going on my speech. I waited until now just to see what current problems in the community are, so I can integrate them into it.
Heck, we may all be really jumping the gun here. As said somewhere here, we don't even know if there's going to be an election. All the mods and Scratch team may agree that the mods should keep their status.
