While yes, we do have a no-religion policy in the Scratch Forums, this is only due so because most of the religious topics posted before are somewhat sensitive topics that largely capable of becoming flame wars that are difficult to maintain.

However, this topic does not look like it's bound to become a flame war. I'm inclined to let it stay unless otherwise.  smile

Religious threads that likely to become flame wars are usually closed.

But this topic does not look like it's bound to become a flame war. I'm inclined to let it stay unless otherwise.  smile

This thread wasn't necessarily likely to cause a flame war...

I wouldn't know about the circumstances behind the closing of that thread (as I was not the one who closed it); it's possible that promotion of a pro-Christian album might have been seen as prosthelytizing (which usually ends up as a flame war), but I am just guessing at this point. The owner of the thread can talk to the Scratch Team about possibly rethinking the about opening it, and the Scratch Team can ultimately decide whether or not the thread can be safely reopened.

I personally think this is fine, but of course, I'm not a mod. I mean, "What do you want for Christmas?" threads aren't closed (unless they magically turn into flame wars), so why should this?

Anyway, steppenwulf, I don't know very much about Ramadan, but it seems like it would be hard to fast all day. I heard that there are big meals before sunrise and after sunset. Is that true? It seems like that would make it a little bit easier...

This is significantly different- Christmas is unfortunately no longer considered to be a Christian event by many people. On the other hand, Ramadan is a strictly Muslim/Islamic event.

It's not really that hard after the first couple of days, but that's just me. The meal before sunrise is called Iftar, and then there is a small meal to break the fast called Suhur (Soo-hoor). The reason for it being small is so that your stomach can adjust after not eating all day. Personally, I find it hard to wake up at 5:00 a.m and eat a big meal. I usually eat something small and drink two glasses of water because I stay physically active during Ramadan. I've lost nearly 4 pounds  lol

I recall a "What do you want for Hanukkah?" thread too. This is just I thread about a holiday steppenwulf celebrates. He's not trying to convert us or anything. But, like I said, I have no authority about whether this stays open or not and, ironically, me arguing will only make it more likely to close. So I'll shut up now...

Your eating habits during Ramadan sounds very much like my friend's habit. All she does is eat an itty-bitty salad during Ramadan [and sometimes soup] but that's it. I don't know how she does it.

Well I guess you just learn to ignore the hunger after a while xD This morning I ate one and half peices of toast lol. I was just super tired. Then when I went to school I nearly followed someone into a whole different part of the building that my class was in XD

I suppose I can see how it would get easier after you get used to it. I can also see how it would be hard to eat a lot that early. I have to wake up around 5:15 for school every day and I usually just eat a little. I don't really know anyone who fasts during Ramadan, so thanks for telling me about it.  smile

That isn't early! Most days I need to wake up prior to six AM.

Anyways, Ramadan has always been a really interesting holiday to me. Other than not eating, is there anything else you do to celebrate?

One of my sister's best friends (if not her best friend) is Of that religion and is probably quite happy that everything is now over  smile

7am isn't early if you go to public school, but it is if you're homeschooled and can get up whenever you want!

I suppose I could see getting used to it after a while, but I admit I don't deal with hunger well.

7am is early when you're not forced to wake up at 5 am everyday for school  tongue  We don't do anything else, except there is a special night prayer we do only during Ramadan. After Ramadan is Eid Ul-Fitr, which we celebrate sort of like Christmas  big_smile
