I think comments with "Thanks" in them should be able to be repeated rather than blocked. I know a lot of people reply to people's comments on their projects saying "thanks" (including me).

Actually, comments such as "Thanks" are blocked when repeated because the scratch team has made it harder for spammers to spam on projects and galleries. I'm pretty sure that if they were to allow multiple comments of "Thanks" to be allowed and repeatable, they would have to shut down the anti-spam feature overall. It's a good feature to have so I am positive the scratch team won't remove it.

Yeah, that would be nice, but how would it work? Would only messages saying "Thanks" be always allowed? What about "thanks" or "Thank you" or "Thank You" or "thank you" or "Thanks!" or "thanks : )" or "Gracias" or "THANK YOU!!!!!!!" or "thx" or "Thank you very much." or "ty" or...
What I mean is that there's lots of ways to express gratitude. How would it know it what you typed meant "thanks"?

They'd allow as many variants of thanks as they can think of.

I know they're blocked- I'm suggesting that they not be blocked (only "thanks" comments though). I'm nearly positive that their anti-spam feature is customizable, actually.

Alright, you make a good point.
However, I'd rather the Scratch Team spend their time working on other, more important (in my opinion) things. I mean, we can just think of different things to type.

While I sort of agree with you, maybe we could just try to give a little more than "Thanks" in our comments? I try to vary them a little so that whoever commented knows I really appreciate it.

While I do agree, I think scmb1 presents a fairly large problem that may make it difficult for the Scratch Team to implement this. Also, it can be somewhat creative coming up with endless variations on "Thank You" - it can be a fun exercise

What if someone says something like "Thanks a lot CHECK OUT MY PROJECT NAO (link to project)"? The comment includes "thanks", but there's spam in it as well...

I'm talking about "thanks", "thank you", etc. (by themselves). Besides- spammers already do that xD

Great idea!
AND... no worries on the Thanks! and tHaNkS! and THANKS! because I think in javascript you can convert things to uppercase.
Sortof like this:
The Future Scratch Website! wrote:
if message.toUppercase() == "THANKS!" {
disAllowMessageBlockerOrSomethingAlongeTheseLines();
}
Oh pfft, I forgot to say

I don't think this is a great idea. It's basically a weapon for trolls and spammers to use.

You'd also have to take variations of "Thanks" into account. It would be treading on thin ice.

I've never seen a thanks comment by itself. Thanx, yes, Ty, sure, not Thanks.

Yeah... using a censoring system similar to the forum one would be nice.

I use it on it's own sometimes.

You know, not only Thanks can be spam. Like, there could be worse, such as cussing. Therefore, I fully support the un-blocking of thanks.
