Lol. Coming from you? Ironic, eh?
Good tips. A bit more spacing for easy reading. People don't like having to read a couple paragraphs to find some info they don't already know (there's a tip!).

Spaming sucks the fun out of scratch. Scratch is supposed to be a fun site where you can share projects and learn about programming. I don't like the way people spam link to their projects just because they want attention. If you just want attention then go to youtube.

Are you still seeing spamming being a problem? As you might have noticed we added some filters that prevent people from posting more than N comments with the same content in the past X days. We're playing with the values of N and X.

I wonder if you could think of it less as spamming and more as playing an unintended game with the scratchr website. In other words, it seems that many users are playing the, "Hey look at me game." It makes sense given the design of the site. People earn point/scores/feedback for doing things that get attention not for developing skill or creating quality (though sometimes quality does get the attention it deserves). The question then changes from how to reduce spamming, to how to promote/reward/give feedback on creativity, quality, and collaboration.

I think the spam filters are a great new feature, but you should allow a person to post whatever they want on their own projects. In one of my demos, I had people request to be notified when the game was done, but i had problems replying to their requests.

So your basically telling people to spam posts, put love-its on random games, oh and spam tags even if the tag has nothing to do with the project......ok then, great tips

I don't think you should spam. A better way to get views is to advertise on the forums, post friendly, helpful comments on other peoples' projects, put tags that are related to the project, and put it in galleries where it fits in. Spamming might get you views, but it will give a bad reputation because people generally do not like it.

Yea, advertise your project in a comment if it might be related to the project your commenting on, or if you think an aspect of it can help the author improve. Don't just tack on your silly project link for the fun of it though, otherwise prepare to get the reputation of a spammer.

I only do that when: I need help, I asked for help, people asked me to help them in the form of a project, people asked me to tell them when the full version is out, or as a project to help. Though if I ever leave a comment that has nothing to do with the project, I put a love-it

Definetley. Instead of seeing (link to project) or check out (link to project) I see:
On one of my projects i will see joe bloe saying: Check out my cool fish game!
Then the same guy on another project: Hey you should look at my fish game!
The same guy on another project: My fish game is so cool, you should check it out!
etc.etc.etc
Also can I suggest that there is no spam blocker for your own projects. i try to answer each comment personally, and now it is extremely hard.

not saying spamming is good, but i see why you would do it.
