Lego harry potter: years 1-4 for the ps3:

Following the dissapointment of lego indiana-jones 2 (the worst lego game besides lego batman) i thought that lego harry potter: years 1-4 would never make the cut.

I was wrong
Years 1-4 is a simple, foolproof idea: you go around levels based on the first four harry-potter films. as opposed to the combat of lego star wars, the game is more of a puzzle game with a tiny bit of combat.

although puzzles where you use scabbers or crookershanks and other small animals to go into hamster tubes get old fast, the rest are rather intresting like the large chess game near the end of year 1.

almost all the puzzles require magic, and each spell you unlock goes into "The spell wheel", a small wheel next to your character stats, you can change spells on the fly(with the shoulder buttons) to play safe, or you can hold the triangle button for a "more risk, high reward" case.

you will be surprised that strengths and weaknesses are better here, a good instance are when you find a broomstick or two, all three kids can use them, but harry is fast, can jinx and do nice barrell rolls. Ron is incredibly slow, can't jinx or barrel roll, and might not be good at going upwards.And Hermionie is just plain useless altogether.

there are a few downsides, like awful aiming and glitches, the aiming is rather annoying and rather than hitting what you need to hit, you might hit some smashable tree, it's worse when you unlock a dark magic character, as they have a cool power to remove innocent people for good, and you might end up destroying someone you don't mean to destroy.(you can't bring them back, so have a new save handy)

the glitches are best shown in free-play of "the magic begins", when you wave at the goblin, in story mode, he is in your collection, in free-play the chair is empty but no goblin here, so you can't play this level.

also draco and the death-eaters are just annoying, apon contact they both make the same "BOOOOOO!" noise, and it ends up making them sound like some rouge burnley football club fan *Shudders*

besides those, this a great game for any harry potter fan, or if you just love lego, or if your some strict parent who does not wan't thier kids playing half-life 2: episode 2.

Rollercoaster world:
Ok, so we are seeing a little to much rip-offs of everything, until around 2003/2004, rollercoaster tycoon was uncloned (well, i think so anyway). what was this clone? this piece of garbage known as "Rollercoaster world".
Like RCT, you make a themepark of your dreams, execpt here, you can't actully make the park of your dreams, due to the stupid, pointless complaint system.
The system pops up almost all the time, telling you to plant a few trees, ok. i planted some, oh wait! it's telling me to plant a few more trees. done! Oh no! more trees needed

and you get the idea...
If your unlucky, just when your almost out of cash, the game will tell you to place (lot's of) toilets, so your rather making a forest, with toilets.
RCT was better known for the fact you could make multiple rollercoasters to make some version of "Superman:the escape", here, you can only place ONE. Just one coaster, and the park opens up (as opposed to RCT where you could just have non-coaster rides, the park would be open and the guests will still love it).
You can also visit your park in first person and buy stuff from in-game shops, but what's the point?
Although rocket boots are fun, paying for burgers and so is just a waste of time considering you can't starve.

the guests are has harsh as simon cowell too, talk to a guest and you will often get "I wished i went to another park", if your little brother has this game, he is bound to cry.
Graphics: some of the worst textures and the like we have ever seen, the majority of stores and more,use textures from a normal camera or so, and they look disgusting, in one store, there is a man working, but you can't see his face because it's so blurry. the harsh guests are worse too, as they are ugly, 2D people that if you walk too, you will always see the guests back.
Sound: the only good thing in sound terms is the soundtrack. that's it.

+pretty cool soundtrack.

- a mode in game that allows you to ride coasters from the japan version of this game contains death-trap rollercoasters
-bad sound, besides the soundtrack.

word of advice:this bad attempt at copying RCT went wrong, if you want a good bad game, try big rigs over the road racing, it's bad, but it's better than this.

Modnation racers (PS3):
modnation racers is like Little big planet but with kart racing (Although you can have car bodies).

when you play it for the first time, you take control of "tag", a young graffiti artist who uses the cans on his orange car, not the walls.(the cops will be happy for this, i'm sure) then some things happen and then he takes part in the "MRC", the modnation racing campionships.

on the first level, you are forced to play as tag, but once you go in 3rd or better, you have access to the "MODSPOT". The Modspot is a medium sized hub world where you can access the game by driving to the building or by selecting it from a main menu.

of course, the first thing you might do is make a new character and car to race in. at the start, your features are limited, but once you progress, a load of new items can be used. while the customization is plain awsome, i found part's of racing just dissapointingly shallow.

a good example comes from after you beat a few races, in order to progress, you have to be in 3rd or better, to beat the optional goals, you beat the gaols and be in 1st. but at the end of each "Tour" is a race where you have to finish first. in the grim tour, this is near impossible due to the overpowered AI.

What do i mean by overpowered? Well, many critics complained about this too, once you start a few races you notice that they have every weapon and will be firing at you with them, there is a shield, but it will be too late, as you don't know when the effect takes place, so you might get fustrated as your first place attempt jumps to 8th place. (if this happens on lap 3, you have little chance of winning)
also,there are long loading times that just ruin the pace of action, each load time (depending on what track is chosen) can take up to a minuite.

the annoying offline story may encourage you to play online with your friends, the community is wide enough to slowly catch up with LBP's community, as the downloadable characters, cars and racetracks can lead to intresting combonations. the online racing is divided into many part's, the most important of them is "XP races", you get XP depending on what posistion your in, and you get bonuses for attacks, stunts and what-not.

word of advice:
while the online community is the best way to play this game, if your offline, this might not be the game for you. (Unless your making characters and so on so then when you do get broaband, you can upload them)
7/10 for offline
9/10 for online
