Chipguy and Recycle49 look here!

ANYONE ON THE OTHER TEAM WHO VIEWS THIS SHOULD BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, we've been assigned as a team for Tele's contest.  The name of the game is Capture the Flag, so hopefully you both know how that goes.  I've already started making my bot, and I think it should turn out pretty well, but I need to know if you guys have any strageties you want to discuss.

My Strategy:
All our bots play defense for a bit and as we play defense your two bots make it to the outsides and my bot will constantly defend (trust me, no one will be able to beat it).  Once you guys are on the outside, your bots make their way forward and then, based on where the other bots are placed (I'll try and do some trig for you guys) one will distract and the other goes in to get the flag.  Once the one bot has the flag, he tells both the other bot and mine that he has it.  If none of the other team is on our side, my bot will go out to meet the other bot while the bot without the flag does some type of distracting movement that should draw the enemy bots.  If the bot with the flag is captured, my bot should be able to discern if it can grab the flag and run or if it should retreat to half line and continue defense until another opportunity approaches.

What do you think?  I know it's complicated, but I think we can pull it off, and if you guys need help with anything, just send me a message and I'll try and code it as fast as possible.

Thanks ~AtomicBawm3~

Re: Chipguy and Recycle49 look here!

Nice stragie, we just distract them and then you go for the kill, as in get it.  There will try some thing like point move or that, its a bullet proof plan

Cool, but if you've gone to the project , you'd know he's currently rewriting the rules, since they're waaaaaaay to vague.  It might be a while before he gives the okay for the bot making and we have all the rules needed.

Another feature:  make bots so that they can drop the flag and run if an enemy gets to close.

with this defence thi-

wait, did telecontest say we could use "glide"?

-ng are you going to make a sensor over the center and make somthing like this:
<if><( <x position> of attacker <>> <x position> )>
do____
<end>

do you thing our bots should be big or small?

anyway, nice ideas AtomicBawm3

Re: Chipguy and Recycle49 look here!

Yes, but if they allow you to drop them (I will ask him), then that might be a helpful strategy for diversions.  As for the gliding, no you cannot use gliding, because if you're gliding too fast, your breaking the rules, and gliding to a position of the other sprites isn't going to help, because it records the x and y of the sprite when you begin gliding and then glides there.  In other words, gliding cannot help you in any way.

Re: Chipguy and Recycle49 look here!

I have found a loophole (not technically) that will speed up our sprites tremendously.  Simple do something like "move (3) steps" and copy it and put it in again about four times, and your speed is amazing!  I think TeleContest will agree with me that this is not a cheap move, simply an avoidance of the delay of long scripts.

Re: Chipguy and Recycle49 look here!

Although I agree it's not a cheap move, think about the consequences. If a sprite locates the flag, it could simply point to their own side move 2 steps about 100 times in a row, negating the point of the challenge. So I'm going to have to disagree for the moment.

Ok, what if we limit it to three times?

Re: Chipguy and Recycle49 look here!

thanks!  I just think it's taking advantage of Scratch's reading system and it never truly moves more than three/two steps.  Also, I was wondering my team could create a test account that the other team doesn't know about, so that we can combine our sprites and experiment?  It would really help I think, I just really don't want the other team to find out, not because I don't trust them, but because I think it's too tempting to try and look.

Re: Chipguy and Recycle49 look here!

TO MY TEAM:  I will make the account and post a project on it.  I will then tag the project with my username backwards (3mwabcimota), so simply search for that tag.  It will then ask the question within the project what my test account's name is (A__B__3__T__E__S__T).  This way, it'll be hard to find anyway, but if someone does stumble upon it, the won't know what the project's password is (except Telemachus).

I will post the project with:
-My sprite, soon to be somewhat finished
-three basic enemy sprites (that we will elaborate on)
-the two flags.
-the account name and password of this test account, so that you guys can download the project and reupload it on this account.

After each of you put your sprites in it, I will conduct a series of tests and look at your guy's scripts.  Then we all evaluate what works and what doesn't and adjust accordingly, agreed?

He said (i think) two Sundays from this one, so we've got a while.  Just keep working on your scripting and I'll find out for you guys.

Re: Chipguy and Recycle49 look here!

Ok, go ahead and go to a project and go to the search tag box and enter my username backwards, the project will pop up.  Enter my test account to view and then download it.  Add your sprite and reupload it with the same name, username, and the passward "telecontest".

I'm not done, just done with my basics.  I still have to program offense, and work on defense, but it should be ready to play.

No, it says there have been that many views.  I for one have viewed this thread at least 50 times, so it's more like 184.  Then you've probably viewed this around 35 times, so it goes down to 149.  Telemachus has probably viewed this about 40 times (idk) so now its 109.  Recycle49 may have viewed this five times so that 104.  Account for random viewing by curious people, you're down to maybe 50.  It's really not that many people, and even if they have, they can't really say anything without telemachus finding out.

really??? i thought if you view it, and then the same person views it, it only makes 1 view. or is that only with projects?

tongue  lets get on topic!
