Allow Non-Users to Love Projects

I think that non-users should be able to love projects. As it is now, if you're a non-user and you try to love a project, it says that you need an account to do this. If there's not an account on file for a computer/IP and they aren't logged into an account, they could/should still press love-it. Of course, if there was an account on file for that computer/IP, then it wouldn't work.

Though it may seem "awesome", it'd lead to some spammy situations.

Someone could log off of their account and give themselves as many views as they please...  hmm

Maybe it could check the IP address?

Even so, I don't know...  hmm  The only benefit I can see from not having this though is that it helps to encourage users to join. xD

But this would be friendly to those without accounts... and not everyone has an account; I think that actually most Scratchers don't have accounts, right?

Still, I don't think it would be very reliable.  sad

Unfortunately, people with dynamic IPs (IPs that change when you reset your router) might try to cheat the system by logging out, resetting their router, and clicking love-it... then repeating to cheat the front page... or, they might go to another computer, and click love-it there...

It's a nice idea... but perhaps it needs some fine-tuning - perhaps it could be a seperate entity from the love-its, that doesn't control whether people can get on the front page, but as a statistic that's just nice to look at/know about... Perhaps "X people without accounts liked this project"...

Maybe like newgrounds.  yikes

When you log in, and you're around for a while (ie, 3 years), 1 love-it-button-click means 10 love-its, while if you joined yesterday or you aren't logged in, one love-it means 1 love-it.

That's a really bad idea. What if someone who hasn't been on their account for the 3 years, loves it all their projects and leaves for another 3 years?

It would be cool, but it would be way to easy to get home paged. But non-user views would be cool... I support 50%-ish.

Re: Allow Non-Users to Love Projects

But then you can't see who clicked love it. By typing "/lovers" after one of your projects' URLs, you can see who loved it. :3
I like Wolfie's suggestion alot.

Well, you could keep deleting all of your cookies and changing your ip, like 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3, etc. and give yourself ton of love-its.

Yeah, but that's a ton of work for a little reward.

Re: Allow Non-Users to Love Projects

I don't really agree... if you wanted to do love it's it wouldn't be so hard to just simply  get an account.  And I like to know who clicked love it, but it's unknown then your not a user.  If someones going on Scratch to view/love projects, wouldn't it just be easier to get an account?  It doesn't really make sense...  hmm
