I don't really have any tips right now, but you're 16 so you should get the hang of it!   

I started when I was 9, and didn't make an account until I was 12. I guess that just goes to show that you can learn it by yourself.

It's because the scratch team decided to implement the "New Scratcher" status which gives us a post every 10 minutes, and only let's us post in main threads. It's the scratch team's way of stopping spam, and it is working too.

The reason that they specifically blocked the the miscellaneous forums is because in the past it was used for pornography attacks, and it was the most heavily spammed forum. Just make projects and go on the forums often and you should be a "Scratcher" in no time!

Miscellaneous seems to have evolved into some community gathering place for members who have, to some degree, already established themselves within the Scratch community; new members usually have not established themselves within the community yet.

It is usually expected that a newcomer who is genuinely interested in Scratch will post helpful comments in the regular forum and make projects to upload to the Scratch website; a spammer is less likely to do so. Leaving the main part of the forums open while closing Miscellaneous gives a chance for the new member to become more involved within the Scratch community initially (helping out other users, viewing other people's projects, etc.) When this is proven, that new member has the privilege of becoming a regular Scratcher and given the opportunity to go to Miscellaneous. Simply put, if one wants to post in Miscellaneous, he/she must prove him/herself worthy of it.
