Games I Recomend You Get For The PSP

Okay, now, this is a list I compiled of some of my favorite PSP games around.

Alright, I only own 7 games, but I also have played many demos to tell which ones are good or not.

This topic is REALLY long, so I made the titles of the games bold to make them stand out. Simply scroll around and read anything you sound interested in.

Ones I suggest:

Ape Escape On The Loose:

This game is a remake of the classic game "Ape Escape". The story of the game is a white monkey in a zoo finds a strange helmet which gives him special intelligence. This white monkey's name is Spector. Now Spector gets a whole group of monkeys and gets a similar helmet to give them super-intelligence, also. These monkeys decide to take over the world. Your friend Jake has been kidnapped and mind controlled by this monkey to take out the main character, Spike. So, you basically just capture monkeys.

Graphics: 3/5 Not too good, but not horrifying. Even the cover art looks very lousy though.

Sound: 4/5 This game has some neat sound effects, but can get annoying at times.

Voice Acting: 2/5 This games voice acting is horrible compared to the original. The actors sound very annoying, and they changed the script so it sounded REALLY weird.

Gameplay: 4/5 It's a really fun and addictive game, but once you have captured all the monkeys, you probably won't want to pick it back up. Camera angles get a little funky sometimes.

Megaman Maverick Hunter X:

Another remake of a classic, this time a remake of the SNES game, "Megaman X". This is a great game and there aren't too many noticable differences between the original game and this remake, other then updated sounds, music, and graphics. Basic gameplay is nearly the same. This storyline is VERY long, so if you want to know about it, go here: Click Here! This game comes with a variety of extras, including playing as one of the villians, Vile, playing a demo of a Megaman PSP game, and an anime movie describing how the whole story started.

Graphics: 4/5 Not too bad, but not too amazing. Simple enough for a side-scrolling game.

Sound: 4/5 The sounds and music sound amazing! The remixes of the classic songs sound awesome!

Voice Acting: 3/5 Overall, the acting is okay, but the script is a little strange and the mavericks have really irritating voices. You'll know what I mean if you look up "Megaman Maverick Hunter X Sting Chameleon". There are some really weird script issues, like when the Mavericks or someone else refers to you, they call you "Maverick Hunter X", instead of "Megaman X" or "X" as in the original games. This sounds really strange at times.

Gameplay: Basically an advanced version of your average Megaman games. All rules still apply, but you also get a wall jumping feature, and dash feature, and upgrades to your body. Overall, good, fun game, but still not very replayable. Once you unlock everything you might pick it up every once in a while, but not often.

Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles:

This game is yet ANOTHER remake. It is a remake/bundle of two castlevania games:
Castlevania Rondo Of Blood, and Castlevania Symphony of The Night. If you like hard games, or Castlevania, this game is perfect for you. This is one of the hardest games on the PSP. I won't get too much into the storyline. Basically you kill zombies, bats, skeletons, and other creepy monsters to get to the end to kill Dracula. This is a Konami game, so YES you CAN use the Konami code in this game.

Graphics: 4/5 Nearly the same as Megaman Maverick Hunter X. Good graphics, considering the game is very zoomed out, so it doesn't need to look detailed that much. Still good graphics.

Sound: 4/5 Both the soundtrack and the sound effects are great, nothing too special though.

Voice Acting: ?/5 There isn't much voice acting, and I have yet to beat it, so I can't really say. So not bad.

Gameplay: 3/5: This game is very fun, but INCREDIBLY HARD. This game can get very frustrating to play and I have found myself simply turning off the game because I got a Game Over so quickly. One of the major problems is the fact your character walks VERY VERY slow. If you like quick games, you may lose some patience.

LittleBigPlanet:

There really isn't much to say about this. It comes pre-packed with a short story mode, and you build levels. You can go online to share levels you made and download levels made by others.

Graphics: 5/5 For the most part, the graphics are pretty stunning. There is alot of detail in the images in this game.

Sounds: 4/5 Not really anything to say. Some noises are a little annoying, but for the most part it's just general stuff. Some of the music on there is really catchy.

Voice Acting: 5/5 Coming from the fact that the only talking in the game is only in word bubbles, or said by the narrator, the voice acting is fine and isn't irritating.

Gameplay: 3/5 The game is pretty fun, but it's VERY glitchy and you may get stuck for very cheap reasons. Also, the game crashes ALOT. Don't expect one of your levels not to crash if it's going to be a good level. That is the problem. If you take up enough space to make a professional looking level, the game can't handle it and it will possibly crash. I have had my game crash on me countless times, never having that problem with any other games.

Ratchet And Clank: Size Matters:

This is a great game. It takes all the fun from the PS2 games and just puts it on the PSP for it's own adventure. This game was shortly after ported to the PS2, but is considered worse then the PSP version of the game. Mostly because it is the EXACT same game just fixing some things because the PS2 has more buttons. Graphics are pretty bad for a PS2. Basically a girl who is taking pictures of you for a school report on heroes gets kidnapped, and when you save her, you are only going to find out she trapped you. If the game ended after you first found her and without her turning evil, it would be one of the shortest and easiest games on the PSP. This game is very fun, and is addictive, and even includes an online mode, when you can chat with others, and play them online. Most of the time you won't be able to connect to games, so if you are going to go online, expect to try it multiple times before it works.

Graphics: 4/5 Really great, for a PSP game. Very detailed, but not amazing.

Sound: 3/5 Music is REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY repetitive. It gets really annoying, and I suggest turning the sound off. The sound effects aren't bad though.

Voice Acting: 3/5 Not bad. Not amazing either.

Gameplay: 4/5 Really fun, but ONCE AGAIN, this game is not a game that you will likely play again for a long period of time.

Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny:

This is basically your standard Soul Calibur game. Definitely easy to play if you have played the console versions. Great game. Even includes a create a character funtion!

Graphics: 5/5 The graphics on this game are amazing, and truly boast the PSP's graphical capabilities.

Sound: 3/5 The sound for the most part is fine, but most voice recordings sound as if they were recorded with a walky talky, and aren't that impressive.

Voice Acting: 3/5 Once again, the quality of the voice is horrible. The acting itself isn't bad at all.

Gamplay: 4/5 This game is typical for your Soul Calibur game. Same button layouts, similar characters, and such. Nothing too impressive.

MLB The Show:

I didn't put any specific year because I have tried all games from 2008 up, and all are great. If you want a recent game though, stick with 2009 since the 2010 is just a FEW people edited but the same game with internet capabilities taken off. NOt even all the players are on the roster! Get 2009 because it's the same game for a cheaper price and more features.

Graphics: 3.5/5 The graphics aren't amazing, but aren't bad. I mean, you probably wouldn't be able to recognize a players face, but it's not ugly.

Sound: 4/5 This is one of the most interesting things non-gameplay wise about these games. It includes most music for players when they come at bat, includes announcers, too.

Voice Acting: 3.5/5 The only voice acting here is simply the announcers and the crowd. The crowd doesn't seem to say anything, just roar. The announcers will repeat the same phrases often, which can get pretty annoying. But what they say can be pretty funny.

Gameplay: 4/5 The game itself is alot of fun, but is REALLY HARD, and REALLY FRUSTRATING. The third time I played I was losing 16 to 1 or something. That sum it up? Fun though, and since it's different every time the game is pretty easy to pick back up and play again.

Jak And Daxter The Lost Frontier:

This is simply another game in the franchise. Nothing impressive.

Graphics: 4/5 Pretty good for the PSP, and highly detailed.

Sound: 3.5/5 Pretty decent. Not amazing.

Voice Acting: 4/5 For the most part it's fine, but the script is a little weird and Daxter's voice annoys me.

Gameplay: 4/5 The game is great, but the physics are really weird with jumping. Other then that it is your typical 3D platformer, killing ememies, roaming around completing tasks and such.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 (Not released, but demo is on the store!):

Great game, sequel to the first Phantasy Star Portable game.

Graphics: 5/5 Amazing. Great anime style art, and great cutscenes.

Sound: 4/5 The short voice clips of your assistant are pretty annoying, but other then that this has great quality sound and there isn't really anything else to complain about.

Voice Acting: 4/5 Basically fine other then your annoying assistant, otherwise the acting is pretty good.

Gameplay: This game is pretty good, it's easy in the demo, I don't know about the full game, but much better then the demo of the first Phantasy Star Portable game. (I haven't played the full version of Phantasy Star Portable 1)

THE GAME I RECOMMEND MOST:

Resistance: Retribution:

This game is great if you like shooters. It is probably my favorite PSP game of all time. It is fun, amazing graphics, and even includes online play, and one of my favorites...TALKING TO PEOPLE ONLINE WITH YOUR PSP HEADSET! While many people may not have the headset, it is much easier talking and getting through matches of Capture The Flag and such when you have a partner with a mic and you have a mic. This game is rated M, for cursing, blood and gore, and partial nudity. I haven't seen the slightest bit of nudity, because I mean, hey! This isn't Soul Calibur when the women have an extra skimpy costume. It's people wearing standard clothing.

Graphics: 5/5 AMAZING GRAPHICS! This truly boasts what the PSP can do. It's amazing.

Sound: 4/5 Sounds are fine. Nothing WRONG with it though.

Voice Acting: 3.5/5 The acting is fine, but there is a decent amount of cursing and the main character uses the phrase "bloody *insert thing here*", which is REALLY annoying.

Gameplay: It is a little awkward at first, since aiming with your gun is done with your X, Square, Triangle, and Circle buttons. Finally, you don't just aim left or right, you aim WHEREVER you want! The cursor automatically goes on enemies if you have Aim Assist On, which is default, but if you press up on the D-pad it will zoom in and you can aim wherever you want, making kills much quicker because you can aim for the head. Truly the best PSP game I have seen.

*sigh* So it's all over. All the games I recommend for the PSP. Thank you, and good bye!

I sadly don't own a PS3 anymore, so I can't. My brother took his PS3 to college. So I can't.

I change amazing things to make them fail. I know it because I think XBOX 360 fails yet I love it because I am a raging fan-boy.

Yeah, you are. 3DS is boss. Bettert graphics then any other portable out there. And so far it has a much better game selection. Who cares about JUST killing people?  tongue

PS3 ROCKS! GO LBP!
