This option would allow you to take a shot of the stage and use it as a new costume. This would be the equivalent of using 'grab screen region for new costume' and grabbing the stage precisely without the shadowed edges.
This would be useful if, for example, you want to make a temporary sprite to draw something with the pen, and then make it into a new sprite/costume.
This feature has also come in handy several times in my private mod.
This is the Scratch Suggestions topic

Support! If it extended further than the Stage, that would be nice, too (I can envisage that it will make tutorial production time shorter... )

What do you mean, extend further than the stage? Do you mean selecting any rectangle of the screen? That feature is already avaliable (right-click on the stage/a sprite on the stage)

Whoops ^^ I never noticed that right-clicking a sprite produces a different menu to right-clicking the stage...
Anyway - I still support this idea

That's not so exact, and it gets darker on the left and top sides...
I support - I've wanted this so many times!

That's because of that strange shadow.
You can already right-click the stage and save a picture of it, and then import that picture into Scratch, but it's a bit time-consuming, so this would be neat
