Make sounds SMALL! How?
I'm trying to use music in my project, but it takes 10MB, but its 1MB in Windows.
Whats going wrong? (I use XP SP3)

Oh I thought they stopped it.
You can compress sounds and pictures before you upload something. I don't know of any other way to reduce how big a sound file is. Maybe cutting out parts you don't need?

Occasionally, Scratch thinks a file is larger than it is - but that doesn't mean anything.
I think that may be what you're experiencing.
You can try compressing the sounds, however.
Speaking of which, I added some words to a picture that was 1MB big, then it jumped up to 2MB. Are letters that big?

It could have been verging on 2MB, because I think letters are only meant to be about 2 bytes each, which, you know, isn't a lot. It may differ in Scratch, though.

How big are the letters and what colours? The more colors the bigger the image size.

Actually it was around 1200 kb and it jumped up to 2300 kb

I guess that's it. The letters were size 48 and white (all of the colors together)

Sounds in .wav format (and some others) are reallllly huge! Convert them to mp3s and you can shrink them way down. If they won't load in Scratch after shrinking, convert them to mp3s again but at a higher bit rate.
