Re: scratch browser again

It depends. If you make changes, and you aren't 100% sure of what you're doing, you shouldn't save the changes, because it can mess up the scratch program. But if you see a scratch project with say, a guide to enable mesh or change colors of blocks, than you can. None of this is actually supported by the Scratch Team, but the only risk is if something goes wrong, you'll have to re-install Scratch  tongue .

Re: scratch browser again

I would suggest, if you are going to edit Scratch, copy Scratch.image so you have your backup and your active one.

Re: scratch browser again

I agree with the above two posters. Whatever you change, either make sure it works, or don't save when you close Scratch. Remember, for your changes to take effect, you need to right-click the browser and click 'accept'. As long as you don't save changes to Scratch when you exit Scratch, nothing will be changed.

Re: scratch browser again

The browser contains all the stuff that makes Scratch tick, essentially. You can use it to change things like blocks (or even make your own), for example.

Re: scratch browser again

I would suggest putting this kind of stuff in the Advanced Topics forum.

Yep, they pretty much got it all down!  tongue

Except for one thing: I suggest you download the Scratch Source code and edit that instead of the decompiled (The Scratch you use to make projects) one. The Source code is easier to read!  lol

When you enter it, though, shift click the "file menu" instead of the "R".  wink

Actually, I think the Source is the decompiled version.

Re: scratch browser again

Lol, my private mod, Shriek, was made by directly editing Scratch. Not the downloaded source code, but Scratch!

Re: scratch browser again

Dont encourage them to use Scratch ><
I made MY mod, Ghost, from the source code. It is a lot easier to read and add to.
