So many people have been recently posting threads about closing the miscellaneous or moving it, but that won't work! Then, all that spam and non-related content will move to other topics! Here is my plan which is basically making the miscellaneous what it is meant to be.
1. Moderators(and/or admins) should go on a cleanup and delete all topics that are not supposed to be in miscellaneous.
2. The rules should be made stricter so that if there are any off-topic threads, they will be deleted.
"Use this forum if you are not certain if the topic is directly related to Scratch." and it doesn't say, "Use this forum for off-topic threads". The miscellaneous forum is meant for stuff that doesn't belong in other topics, not for stuff that doesn't belong anywhere. This means maybe advertising something on Scratch that doesn't fit the Show And Tell topic, or maybe problems that don't really fit in Troubleshooting.

NOOOO!!!! I use the Misc as an escape from programming. I mean, after 3 hours of staring at scripts, you'd want to talk about facebook and your ban from the TBG or whatever, right? So I use the Misc. Or my hacker friend shalt spam, troll, flame, and then promptly quit. (He threatened this, not me)

Can you stop mentioning him? It's probably not even a real hacker, and if they're threatening something like this then they are probably angry and might have even gotten themselves banned already. I'm guessing this spamming and flaming thing is never going to happen because they can't do it.

He's never done anything before. Oh, and I mistated; he isn't actually a hacker. He's a script kidde, which means he downloads Trojan Horses over the internet and sends em, or maybe he follows instructions to get in a backdoor. It's not a real hacker in that sense, but still dangerous.

Good for him, report him to the FBI. Or better yet, tell him to try to spam attack. I'll get a laugh out of this.

So he wasn't actually banned from the TBG then? o.O

It was an example. If I was banned from the TBG I would cry for 3 days, then hack my way back. But Ima noob hacker, so it wouldn't work. Then I would create 7 new accounts hidden behind 15 proxies and continue RPing.

Not to mention you can't really hack back even if you wanted to. And if you could, it would be another simple click before you're banned again permanently and the cops show up at your house. And they're banning Proxies now just for the reason that they are proxies, so you probably won't be able to use one without it being banned in a few minutes.
And even if you somehow get past everything, if you continue RPing, they'll know that you're Helltank once you start following the same habits and using the same characters as before.

The problem with that is that it will probably greatly reduce the trust between the Scratch Team and the community members that we currently have. If we should do strict rules, we should make sure that everyone can clearly understand them, otherwise it will certainly cause confusion and misunderstanding when someone breaks a rule while not being aware of it, and will give fuel to drama and flames in the community. In the worst case, it would be seen as tyranny from the Scratch Team.
However, with the type of rules you propose, it might prove hard or even impossible to make them easily understandable for all, as everyone has their own understanding of a "spammy" or "worthless" post. Perhaps you have some particular rules in mind?

It was suggested a while ago that when you first visit the forums, a rules notification should appear that you have to read and agree to.
But Scratch doesn't really have any written rules besides using Common Sense and giving credit in projects.

Maybe no "actually" useless topics. As in stuff about your personal life that really doesn't matter.

But you never know, this stuff may actually matter. So just delete it all and you won't have to worry about it.

Again, different people have different understandings of an "actually" useless topic. That's the main problem, I believe. ^^"

You know what? The stuff you call spam topics are interesting to me. If you don't like the Misc, don't visit it.

It doesn't matter if it's interesting. It is still spam.
