This is like the only sane suggestion concerning the spam topics(yeah I admit) clogging up the Misc forum. Oh, and AoS, you see to think Scratch is a programming website. It is in a way, but it is also used for other things. I don't want to go out of beautiful Scratch just to visit 4Chan's Misc.

It is in a way? There's no doubts about it, it is a programming site. However, it is used for other things. You're right about that. It's used for things like chat and spam that it's not supposed to be used for. That's why we need to clean it up. Starting with the Miscellaneous then hopefully the TBG.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Joking. xP The TBG is unneeded...![]()
just because it is uneeded some ppl have fun on the tbg forums so they would want it to stay and the other ppl who dont like it well it doesn't effect them so your point?

Why can't a programming site be used for other things, like Misc and/or TBG? If the Scratch Team is happy about it, you should be too. If you're not, complain to them directly. If you're still not happy, quit.

Who says they're happy about it?
It's because it is a programming site and not a games site that it doesn't need those things. If you want to socialize, leave Scratch, it's for programming.

+1 Though I disagree with the last sentence; I'd say "If you want to socialize, go to the TBG - it's epic."

Misc takes up too much time, and a ton of people just spam there. Maybe a cap on how many posts you can make in misc every day?![]()
I thought of that to but then I noticed, that the community would get mad and they would want to get back at the scratch team for it. So the most that can happen is that we get horrible spam in a few amounts of posts.
I really don't know what to say in this topic. I say closing it isn't that good of an idea. And, if I was in the position of andremsh I would say the same thing he is saying. He doesn't want to lose anyone as it appears. There are more people who want the micellaneous than people who oppose it. Closing it would make alot of people leave, even if it's a better thing to do.

I support, but if misc was moved to a different site, it would have no meaning at all. It would be more a chatting area.

Yeah, making people leave is sad. But if people leave because of the forum's removal, that means they were staying for an unpreferred reason.

Let me just put it this way: Never going to happen

I have an idea! Make the forums forums.scratch.mit.edu/forums
Misc and the TBG can be forums.scratch.mit.edu/otherforums
They will redirect to the proper place!

Con about moving:
We would need like 30 mods.
I don't think so...

Moving it can be a great idea. I'm not a moderator nor have ever been one, but I think they spend a lot of time patrolling the Misc. forum while not spending time in the others. It also doesn't affect the post count on this part of the forums, and you can have special moderators watch the new Misc. forum.

I daresay I have suggested this directly to the Scratch Team, and after lengthy (as an understatement) discussion, me and the rest of the moderators have decided that it's rather impractical for a number of reasons I won't bore you with here.
However, I will give you the main issue: The TBGs are almost entirely community-run. This is simple with something like the TBGs where very few fights break out, and very rarely; however, on Miscellaneous, spam-like topics and flame wars break out almost consistently. Without the intervention of the Scratch Team as a largely patrolling force of the current moderating team, us moderators would be absolutely worthless. If Miscellaneous were moved to its own section, the new forum would be left with plenty of moderators who know nothing about what they're doing.
Just felt like pointing this out. Although things have been less heated down there since the guidelines were implemented. ^^

Sometimes, I even think:"Oh man, the mods are sooo going to close this topic."
And they do.
