SHould i flag this?

Someone stole my dinotopia project. They remixed and all they did was change the music, and they didn't give me credit. Should i flag it?

I need a new signature. so ignore this empty boring space until i find or make one XD

Yes. If they did not give proper credit, it should be flagged  smile

Re: SHould i flag this?

Agreed. Ripping off someone's project is something that really isn't tolerated around here.

Re: SHould i flag this?

You should flag them for that if they didn't out on the project credit to "__" and also if they didn't even say sorry

If someone copies, flag. You dont copy without giving credit. You just dont.

Re: SHould i flag this?

Yes - I agree. Simply coping the project and making a minor change WITHOUT crediting you is pretty bad. If they credited you and changed the project a lot then, far do's.

Re: SHould i flag this?

But if they remixed it, doesn't it automatically list the original scripter's name under the project?

Re: SHould i flag this?

That same thing happened to me. And when I asked him (not saying who) to give me credit, he deleted my comments. Also he went around saying I copied him! When I reported it to scratch team they said he wasn't doing anything wrong! It made me really mad.

Re: SHould i flag this?

I tried to report someone else copying a project too, and I got probably the same message that you did; that the Scratch team encouraged remixing. But there's remixing, and then there's completely ripping off someone else's project. If it weren't for the "based on user's project" line, the copier might get fame for a project they didn't make. Heck, it still happens sometimes even with the line!

Re: SHould i flag this?

Because of the fair use policy, unless they removed the "Based on ___s project" thing, you can not flag them.
The "Based on ____s project" is credit, because it says who they took it off.

Yup, I don't support remixing and just changing music or somthing, but as stated you automaticly get credit if someone remixes your project, wether the remixer likes it or not  smile

Remixing is encouraged...but claiming credit for somebody else's work is not okay.  It sounds like there might have been a mistake made in your case.  You might want to send a message to the Scratch Team using the Contact Us form.  Please include a link to your project and to the copied project.

Woah, that must have been super annoying... I've never really had that problem before,  hmm  and I hope I never do.

I think that's a good point. However... it is possible to export all the sprites and backgrounds from a project and import them in a new one, thereby copying it without remixing.

Re: SHould i flag this?

Copiers are really annoying, especially the ones who just export all the sprites & scripts. Wasn't there that one HUGE fight because someone copied someone else's project and just changed the background, and then claimed it as their own?

Re: SHould i flag this?

Ask [him] to give you credit. If he doesn't, flag him. If he claims you copied him, report to the Scratch Team and show them screenshots of the date. Also include links to the copied project and yours. If nothing works, hack their account and troll. This will get them banned. (That last step was a joke lol)

Or you can edit the remix history in a text editor.

Yawn, another boring text signature. I should really make something better.

Re: SHould i flag this?

no offense but handling a "reported as stolen" post with replies that teach people how to steal projects is counter-productive, if you think about it
