Simple, yet highly addicting~

*pokes interwebs* Why are all my scratch projects SO slow online? :'(

Anyway. Hello viewers of this thread! =3 I'm Ralphjos and I've recently created this very addicting game. In this game, you control the little red parachuter and you have to avoid the edges and the arrows. The object of the game is to see how long you live. There are ten levels in this game, but trust me, you won't get past level five. Oh, you think you can? Good luck.  smile

Few things before I let my game consume the next three hours or so of your time...

I had difficulty setting up the Music right. It's supposed to change music at level five and ten; however, the music changing script I used didn't work all that well. I picked one of the three background sound tracks I had and I used it the whole way through. Do you like the music choice?

Another thing, I'm just asking this general question, how do I speed up my game when it's online? The score script is "forever[ change score by 2 ]" and when downloaded you're not even able to see the score variable's single didget. However, when it's uploaded online, it goes incrediblly slow. Is there any way to make my project faster when online?

Oh and Music from www.freeplaymusic.com and I drew all the artwork. And it has a high score list! (<- just thought I would include those~  tongue )

Re: Simple, yet highly addicting~

The java versions of projects online go very slowly when there are many forever scripts.  Try to think of different ways to move so many sprites if you want to avoid the slowness.

In this game I experimented with broadcast-and-wait and glide-for-2-seconds scripts to get the obstacles to move smoothly without a forever script for each one.  I needed everything else to be minimal because the main sprite needed to rotate through 15 costumes on a forever script, quickly. And this game ended up working fine online.

In this game I experimented by making all of the moving sprites into one costume of a large sprite.  This game does not work online because I made many scripts to hype up the visuals, but they all look like they might as well be different sprites.  I made one broadcast script move all of them and cycled that and randomized the costumes. (Download it to see what I mean if you're actually interested.)

One suggestion I have for your falling game or its sequel is to have a scrolling background like the one I have on that flying game. It makes the illusion of moving much more believable.

Re: Simple, yet highly addicting~

I do plan on a sequal, or just a remix. I was also planning on a scrolling background but it was a due project for a friend. Scrolling background would definitely be in the Sequal/Remix. Hmm, I'm going to experiment with the broadcast-and-wait and glide-for-2-seconds scritps.
