Variable Layers: http://suggest.scratch.mit.edu/forums/6 … ble-layers
This would allow you to choose which variables (and lists) your sprite can go over and which it goes under.
Project Playlists: http://suggest.scratch.mit.edu/forums/6 … -playlists
This would link projects back to back. Good for series.
Scratch Score:
This hasn't been put on Scratch suggestions as I am not sure how well it would work. But the main idea is that you can program achievements into your game and give users Scratch Score which is just a little number to show off. This wouldn't effect anything but would be fun to compete with.
You should not be able to get the points in the same project twice.
There should be a limit to the amount of points allowed in a project so that people cannot make projects like, "Get A Ton Of Scratch Score."

Great idea! I'm afraid certain projects could give out a lot of Scratch Scores, imbalancing the system, but other than that I love the idea!
Project Playlists sound like a great idea, but remarkably similar to galleries - maybe "previous" and "next" buttons if you got there from a gallery? I'm not sure.
I like the idea of Variable Layers, too. It kind of fits in with my philosophy that everything doable through the GUI should be doable with blocks

I said this, but I wasn't specific.
I was going to post a work around, but I thought it would be tedious to program for the Scratch Team, which was not allowing these blocks to stack on another of their type, or go in repeat/forever blocks.

Oh! I didn't even read the whole post... Silly me!
Yeah, great idea! I love the thought of an achievements system

Also, it's not terribly similar to galleries, and it's a lot less work. If you don't browse galleries often, when you want to play projects in a row, you don't have to locate the gallery to view them all.

Coincidentally enough, I got this idea from a Game Informer magazine article entitled, "My Gamerscore is 1367 and I've Never Felt Better" which was protesting against the system.

This is a great idea. I hate how difficult variables can be to work with as of now. And an achievement system sounds pretty cool too. Maybe achievements could be local to each project, so it would be more balanced?

But, ten people beating one game completely is less amazing than first place overall on the site. Besides, being local too each project is completely against the point of my suggestion. It's to show age in the community and such.

Both of the ideas are very similar in nature but very different in concept. I'd suggest having high-score "achievements" for the individual projects AND for overall
They'll be essentially the same thing, but displaying the highest achievement points received from that project.

Ah. Good idea. Maybe you would get points for ranking within each individual project? For example, having the highest amount of points in a specific project would give you global points. The higher you ranked, and the more individual players there were that you were competing against, the more global points you would earn.

Wow - that's a great idea! I like this so much, I think you should suggest it on the Suggestions page

I prefer each one separately. I think there should be high-scores on project, but the overall points should be made form your score not rank. Oh yeah, and could I please make the suggestion once we figure this out? I'm picky about credit like that.

Sure. But I think the problem with a point based system (as opposed to rank) is that people will have different opinions on what deserves x amount of points. Some people might make tasks that are too easy and give people an unfair amount of points.

Yeah... But the problem with this suggestion is that somebody could make duplicate projects to give themselves points… to sidestep this, I think there should not be a global "rankings" list.

They should average the points oyu get. If you play X games and you get Y points, you divide Y by X. But if you play X games by one author and they ALL give you more than Y points, they add a 0 to the averaging.
