Archmage has a great 4-way scrolling project you may want to take a look at:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/archmage/100982
Essentially, it's the same as 2-way scrolling, except you apply the same rule to the Y axis - and multiply everything by 360 instead of 480.

It says I gotta open it up with something, so I click Scratch. It looks like its going fine, but then it says "Squeak: applacation not found" or something like that, then it sends me to my documents.
Try saving the file and then opening it manually in Scratch.

I made an example while playing with collisions that has 8-directional movement in it ... or did you just want 4-direction only? ... if 8 is good, check it out.

I had that problem once - fixed it. Most computers now have 2 hard drives - C: and D:. Before, Scratch was saved on my C: Drive, but I reinstalled it on my D: drive and scratch runs smoothly. But, you do have to open projects manually through scratch - Open way. If you just double click the file, it will bring a squeak message up saying something like 'Please locate the Scratch .image file'. Anyways, there you have it

Here is my simplest 4 way scroller. You can change the scroll speed and also toggle the background between the normal ground image or individual images for the 4 sprites that do the scrolling.. so you can see them in action.
