Re: Faking near death for love its?

So... maybe we should discuss when you should flag a project for dishonesty? I think that you should be pretty sure it's a lie, because it's hard to tell if someone is being truthful online. Check to see if the facts don't add up or if there are just too many extraordinary and unlikely things. Also, if it seems over dramatized or is something that would gather a lot of attention, be suspicious.

For example, this user (whom I will not name) has a long series of things that, frankly, just don't add up. He/she claims to be in a massive, long lasting flood. He/she can't phone for help or take a picture to prove it because all of their cameras and phones were ruined in the flood, but somehow the laptops and internet are fine. And furthermore, he/she is facing aftershock floods? (lol wut?) I also checked the news and weather for the area they supposedly live in; no news of flooding or heavy rain. In fact, I read an article that stated the area had been suffering a particularly bad drought until they just started getting some rain recently.

But anyway, that was just to show what I think demonstrated extraordinary circumstances and facts not adding up.

Re: Faking near death for love its?

Oh and now he/she just made a project calling us idiots (Me, henley, calbxy, sunrise-moon and justickman)
Just like I said, he/she would not go on for a while to make people think he/she was dead and get attention, then comes back on.

AS I have said many times, I take it back if I am wrong or proof is provided, but so far they have avoided giving most proof.

Re: Faking near death for love its?

Hopefully the projects are deleted soon.
Faking death, personally insulting 5 people with a project.

P.S: I am really sorry that I changed the subject to the example again, but I think faking a tragic situation, pretending to almost be dead then insulting 5 people for trying to stop the scam shouldn't be on scratch.

I flagged that project.

And seriously? Their whole house is destroyed, and the parents' first priority is getting him/her a new laptop? More examples of flawed logic. I hope this sort of thing doesn't become more common, because it's very dishonest and only creates problems in the community. (which is why we should leave it alone. If they don't get attention, they'll stop.)

I suppose your right.
But if we pay no attention to it, it will just carry on and the people who do believe him/her will have no doubt.

Re: Faking near death for love its?

This topic is becoming slightly gossipy - and we don't want any flame wars coming out of this, either. Please try to keep the conversations respectful towards ALL users. Thanks!

Warnings aside, there are some serious flaws and misunderstandings of flooding and plumbing in that person's logic, so I don't by any means think it's real.

I think we should leave one alert comment, and then leave it alone.

Sorry.  sad  We're just a bit annoyed. Sorry if you've already said so, but do you think it's fair to flag a project for it being a lie?

It's a violation of the Terms of Use, so yes, I do  smile  I'm annoyed, too.

Apparently, the offending user has been banned. Not sure if this is true, though.

Why would they be offended by us saying it's not true?

Re: Faking near death for love its?

I left a respectful comment on their project.

Regardless, this is turning very gossipy at the moment, so I'm closing this.
