True...we should all unite and make a Scratch group and release awesome games so there are some good projects on here. I haven't seen many good ones (no offence guys!) recently...but that Sonic R game was pretty cool.

Well then, we should delete misc [colour=gainsboro]Just kidding[./colour]
And also, I was wondering why there never were any rules posted. I think I saw a guideline on how to post, but I don't think anyone else has. We need one for the misc, because people think it's for anything not related to Scratch, when it's actually just for when your post doesn't fit in any of the other 3 categories [colour=gainsboro]This means you, frequent post highlighter[./colour]
When Inspiration & More was first created, it was just threads that didn't fit anywhere else. Now Miscellaneous is basically chat. Some users have 3000+ posts and only 1 or 2 projects. In 2007, Scratch revolved around projects, not useless threads in the forums. In fact, the forums were used much less. I had 100+ projects and only 120 posts! I wish we could have that again...

I guess people just began to enjoy chatting a lot more. A newer generation of users came on and found the forums, the older generation left, and the new generation starting chatting a lot more. If you look at the significant volume of Miscellaneous posts are made by users who just joined the forums within the last year or two.

It's weird how this thread was made, because for the last 7ish months, I have been doing researching. I noticed that every six months(in this period about 120,000 user join), the forums get a significant rise in activity. This rise is of about 500 extra posts. I'm predicting that by the end of the year, there will be an extra 1000 posts than regular.

Hi, I'm new here =\.
Not really
And let me make it clear that I am in no way against those newer users who came on and started chatting in Miscellaneous. I just think the Scratch Forums are better used for discussing Scratch-related topics, but I do like the Miscellaneous forums and all the liveliness it contributes to the forums.
@Adriangl - I weirdest part is, the main forums don't seem to have grown all that much

People quit, people join
Of course, that doesn't mean the old users were all good. I could name some off the top of my head that weren't the best denizens of the forum.
Not that I would, I've had enough bans

That's the thing. I remember back in 2007 when the forums didn't have a TBG or Miscellaneous. The reason that people used the forums less was because they only used it when they had to! Now people just use it when they are bored, avoiding the whole point of Scratch.

i preferred it when i didn't know about the forums XD. no spam, i had more incentive to do work, etc...
also what adriangl said...

My favorite year was 2007. Everyone knew everyone, almost literally! If something happened, everyone knew about it! Back then, the 10th highest poster had 150 posts. People like The-Whiz, Lucario621, archmage, and a lot more were active and were basically friends with everyone. If you made a good project, you would get discovered, no matter what. Then the dark times fell on us. 2008 came. Along with it, came many things. Spam and trolls, all together. People couldn't keep up, and a ton of great users left. When 2009, all the problems that we had before got worse. More spam came to the forums with the TBG and the Inspiration and More topic. It seems that every year that we go on, it just gets...different.
Darn. I came in with the spams.
