No Ace said you don't have to add the ing because it can be in the acronym. You know how those work right?

Although I guess "they were lol" wouldn't sound quite right, but you COULD skip all this mumbo-jumbo and just say "they were laughing"

You mean "they were laughing out loud."

No, I mean "they were laughing". Usually when a group of people laugh together they don't do it silently.

I was just lollerskating on the roflcopter when all of a sudden lmaoplanes flew in
What was this topic about again?

Oh, right, sanddude is trying to get hell censored. Anyway, I don't think the mods have been to this discussion recently, seeing as how off topic it is, and yet it remains open

I'm not trying to. I didn't know it wasn't censored.

Da** or di**. Because, the first one isn't technically a bad word, unless you put god before it.

What? It is a bad word. If you say God * something, you're saying you want god to sentence it to eternal damnation in hell
You don't even need God in front of it, because it's implied.
As for the second thing, THAT ISN'T A BAD WORD EITHER
Although, generally, you wouldn't talk about it because it's private, and disgusting, therefore looked down upon in public, it isn't a bad word. It's a body part.

And of course you knew hell wasn't censored, since you were making remarks like hell should be censored if * is.

And I should really stop coming to this thread before I get banned

Re: What I Learned From My "Less Strict Rules On Scratch Thread".

I think Hell should be censored. Religious topics are no longer allowed in the forums, so the only way that people would use it is as a curse word.

I am not sure about * because there really is no way to use it in a non-curse way, but it isn't considered a curse word to many people on the forums.

You might as well censor every other thing related to religion then.
Christmas, for example
Church? God? Heaven?
How about cross?

Don't take it that far, most people are allowed to say God, Christmas, etc.

Most are also allowed to say hell when talking about hell.
I would argue that censoring hell would be taking it too far

Keep in mind, I said that users under 10, couldn't see not for everyone project (ones that say c**p). This way, older kids could have more freedom, and younger kids could be protected.

Re: What I Learned From My "Less Strict Rules On Scratch Thread".

I take some stuff back.

I don't think hell is a worse swear than c**p. I think they are both equally bad. If we censor one, we should censor the other.

And it's not fair to censor hell, so it shouldn't be fair to censor c**p. Understand?

No, I don't understand. Hell is a mythological place, while * is excrete, which is not something anyone wants to talk about. Your argument is invalid

Re: What I Learned From My "Less Strict Rules On Scratch Thread".

Wow.

Wow is all I have to say on this topic.

Why do you feel the need to swear on the Scratch site? Parents let their kids on this site because it is a nice, safe, no-swearing site. The way I convinced my parents to let me use this is because it is FAMILY FRIENDLY, SWEAR-FREE, and is moderated constantly to maintain this. My school uses it, I've seen parents make accounts on it to help their kids learn, and much more. Why do you want to get rid of one of the best parts about Scratch's online community? We should be changing the site for the better, not for the opinions of what most current Scratchers dislike. All you have to do is not type - what - 6 words?

Please consider this.  smile

Re: What I Learned From My "Less Strict Rules On Scratch Thread".

Sanddude, you should read this thing.

antimonyarsenide wrote:

You keep using the "every parent has a different view what's inappropriate. We are only using one view" argument. Well, yes, because...

Ok, sorry, but the logic to that is so loose that I can't think of a way to directly explain why it's wrong. So here's a parable:

"Once there was a city called Terphitron. In it lived many people. There were three kinds of common deadly viral diseases in Terphitron; Pseudoplasmic Anemia, Eschrosyndrome, and AIDS. Every day, all three would plague the city, unless a ward against it is being placed, and everyone who isn't naturally immune would be infected.

"Regarding natural immunities against these diseases, there were five genetic possibilities. A person could either:
1. Be immune against all of them (85 percent of the population)
2. Be immune against only Pseudoplasmic Anemia (5 percent of the population)
3. Be immune against only AIDS (4 percent of the population)
4. Be immune against Pseudoplasmic Anemia and Eschrosyndrome (5 percent of the population)
5. Or be immune against none of the three. (1 percent of the population)

"The city has an infinite amount of wards, so each day they place all three kinds, to ensure that no one gets any of the diseases.

"But one day, some kids go up to the government and say, 'But only one percent of the population is vulnerable to all three diseases. Since most of the people are immune to all of them, why should we just go with the ones who are vulnerable to all, and place all the wards, since that would only be using the "vulnerable to all" view?'"

Now. Is the kids' argument valid?

Re: What I Learned From My "Less Strict Rules On Scratch Thread".

@JeanTheFox: Even if we allowed those words Scratch would be a swear-free site. Here's why: those words aren't swears. We just treat them like they are, because like 20% think so. I don't mean to offend you if your some if the 20%, but you are wrong.
@antimonyarsinide: You would make a good point, if that was actually the situation here. See above Jeanthe Fox response.
