Importing iTunes songs to Scratch: Is it even possible?

I downloaded a whole bunch of songs on iTunes and I wondered if it was possible to use them in Scratch. I've tried importing them, but my songs just show up as empty folders... Any advice?  hmm

Yep, it is totally possible! Right click on the song in iTunes and click "Create mp3 version." It will create a copy that is an mp3, which will work in Scratch. Then, drag the song onto your desktop (or into a folder) . Open Scratch, and drag the song from your desktop (or the folder) into the Scratch window.

it works better sometimes if you create a .wav version. not all .mp3s work for some reason.

.WAVs don't sound that great, though... And I don't think you can create WAVs in iTunes, anyhow.

Some people have had trouble turning it into an MP3. There's an option that you'll need to enable, though I'm not sure which. You can find it by searching for "Convert to MP3" in the help.

I've been able to import a song directly from iTunes with no conversion required, which I think had to do with the fact that I use a Mac.

Here's how:

iTunes Help wrote:

To convert a song's file format:
1.Choose Edit > Preferences, click General, and then click Import Settings.

2.In the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the format you want to convert the song to, and then click OK to save the settings.

3.Select one or more songs in your library and choose Advanced > Create [Format] Version.

It definitely does have to do with the fact you use a Mac. Every time I try to do that, it shuts me out of Scratch.

Re: Importing iTunes songs to Scratch: Is it even possible?

I've actually found it simple on my computer, a Windows XP.

All you need to do is open up "My Music" (If you have that file, it's automatic I think.)
Now go to you iTunes and drag the song/s out of iTunes, to the tab of "My Music" and drop it there.
Then you should go to Scratch, and "Import Music" and click music, which should be the last selection. It should be there.

Everyone's argument is invalid. Your argument is invalid.

That only works if the songs are mp3 files.  tongue

Re: Importing iTunes songs to Scratch: Is it even possible?

It depends on your import and download settings (accessed through Edit¬Preferences)

P.S. This forum is turning into iTunes help as opposed to Scratch!!
