Re: Probably....

Great suggestion! It's probably one of the most suggested ones in these forums, and have been declined for a number of reasons:

* How would it be implemented? There's no easy way to implement this - you can't really edit a 3D costume with the blink of an eye
* It's just too hard to understand. Regardless of how it's implemented, when somebody sees the 3D, their brainwaves will go into hypermode but still won't be able to understand how to make their costumes 3D.
* It's too much work for the Scratch Team.
* And we're doing fine with 2D, aren't we?

So all of those reasons combine to form a suggestion that will probably never be implemented. However, don't keep your spirits down - who knows, maybe someday it will happen!

Re: Probably....

Despite the lack of native 3D support in Scratch, some people have managed to create half-working or completely-working 3D tests and games. Here's a 3D test project by LS97: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/LS97/1045594
Just search the website; you're sure to find at least a few 3D test projects that you might even be able to convert into games!

Yawn.

Re: Probably....

2D is great because it makes us have to think of all the things we need to make 3D work.
We take our graphics processors, and neato 3d libraries and engines for granted.
In scratch you can recreate the same methods early programmers figured out for fast 3d on slow computers.

Here's an article I started about 3d projects in scratch:
http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Three_ … l_Projects
Take a look at the examples.
