Re: Who Taught U how to use Scratch!?!?!?

I taught myself. Then I taught my best friend. Most of the kids at my school were taught by the Robodome teach (don't ask) who ran Scratch Club before school started. I was trying to put up posters for my animation group Raccoon Media, and I mentioned Scratch, and my principal said there was a Scratch Club starting and that I should lead it. I said I'll think about, then at the next assembly, my principal said that "Jake will leading Scratch Club, along with Mrs. Bergin". Then 90% of the school thought I "invented' Scratch. I had to say "No, Mrs. Morden-Kelly was mistaken, I didn't invent Scratch, and I'm not head of Scratch Club!" atleast 100 times. Then some kids were calling me a nerd.

Re: Who Taught U how to use Scratch!?!?!?

...a follow up question...

When learning Scratch for the first time, what did you try out first?
-what part of the screen did you work with?
-which block of Scratch was the first one you remember using?
-did your first few projects have a common feature or theme?

Just curious,

Emily

my answers below:
-what part of the screen did you work with?
(setting my sprites in the stage)

-which block of Scratch was the first one you remember using?
(next costume)

-did your first few projects have a common feature or theme?
(I noticed my first few all contained mini-animations)

Re: Who Taught U how to use Scratch!?!?!?

I taught myself Scratch. My first project isn't really the first one I uploaded; that was my 3rd, IIRC.

The first part of the screen I worked with was putting sprites on the stage too, and I scripted a bit too.

The first block I ever used, not counting the "when green flag clicked..forever" stuff, was the "change color effect" block. My 1st project involved a cat that induced seizures (and he admitted it himself through the say block =P).

For my first few projects, interactivity was a common theme. Even in my first project, I had a car that you could move around (colliding with the cat did nothing, though, I hadn't figured out this part yet). My first uploaded projects were also games or game engines.
