Help test a new way to play with Scratch projects online!

Want to try a new way to play with Scratch projects? The Experimental Viewer is now available that allows you to explore and play with all parts of a Scratch project directly in your web browser.

To find out how you can test out the Experimental Viewer, go to: http://scratch.mit.edu/experimental

Please leave any questions, comments, or bugs on this forum thread.  We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the experimental viewer!

Thanks,
Scratch Team

I think I have a bug. Every time I try to use my game here the player stops and crashes. Also I cant get past the select player stage.

Yeah I just saw Mitch talk about this at the 2010 Conference. It works pretty darn well.

Oh another bug, in my project here it requires you set variables then press the flag. In the new player when you press the flag the variables get reset.

Wow. INCREDIBLE! This basically makes anyone a flash developer!!!  big_smile

Bug report: this project isn't detecting up arrow key presses.

This is GREAT! I can't wait for Scratch 2.0!
What's the best way to report bugs if we find them?

That's strange, I'll try another project then.

Re: Help test a new way to play with Scratch projects online!

It does a pretty poor job with midi notes.

Why can't we have some consistency with them?! They sound different online, offline, and in the experimental viewer!

It also has a bit of trouble sensing where the cursor should go when editing text inputs.

Flash doesn't even support MIDI. I'm very impressed that they even got this far.

Re: Help test a new way to play with Scratch projects online!

It's pretty cool, though loading takes a while. I opened an art project to test that had no scripts and 1 sprite, and it took more time than I would have liked. The interface of the scripts is pretty nice, though I would like it a little more like the regular Scratch interface. other than that it is great!

[OMG] You can edit projects! If, in the viewer, you click on the colors just to the right of the stage, you can get the blocks! [/OMG]

That is awesome. If only you could uh, put a Javascript script in the HTML, and add a function that shows the editor in a frame? But then you would have to have the actual rest of the site stored as another document. Just a suggestion  wink

Let's not forget those of us who helped test this out  wink  (HINT: I was one of them  wink  )

I think it works great, but I haven't used it in a week  big_smile

But I'm still having the same problem I had when I first tested it out: clicking seems to work a bit differently than before. For example, in my project "Scape," I am unable to morph the land because it won't sense my clicking properly.

Umm... we are testing this out right now. What are you talking about?

A few of us (such as the moderators) beta tested it before it was released to the public.  smile

Sweet!  big_smile  Looks great so far. Seems a bit slow as of yet, but I'm sure that'll improve. Still deciding if I like the new look or not.

Oh and @cheddargirl and @coolstuff: lucky.  tongue

Another bug: It doesn't support characters like '' and ''. (But it works for Chinese characters.)

Wow...  yikes  This is ambitious.  tongue

*waits for it to load* I'll edit my post later.  big_smile

EDIT: It's great - but then again I tried it out on a small project, so I didn't get many good chances of finding bugs.  tongue

Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.
