Don't get mad for saying this users and mods. I was just looking at the ding fries are done topic and paddle2see's post. You can easily say that about any topic.
I do understand that some topics really DO need closing. (starlow fad. Sorry) but not those kind of things.
This is really just for the mods, so no users have to post

Always good to hear your opinion
So what was the point of the Ding Fries Are Done Post? What information were you seeking? If a topic doesn't have clear objectives, it usually turns into a chat room or spam. I'm becoming more inclined to close unclear topics sooner rather than later as this forum seems to be swimming in spam.

Well you don't seek information in most threads. Just stories and oppinions about scratch.

See, that's where we maybe have a difference of opinion. To me, the forums are a place for sharing useful information, not for entertainment. If your topic isn't stimulating some sort of discussion back and forth, then it turns into a chat topic or spam.
Your topic would have seemed more structured (and likely would have been left open), if you had invited others to discuss songs they might have memorized, for instance. There is an art to good conversation...and an art to good forum discussion as well

Well, I wouldn't say it's spam. Someone thinks it's interesting, then it's good that they posted it. Your not saying that all stories are spam. Are you?

If you just post a story, that isn't really giving much of a discussion... and it could possibly be considered as spam. But if you ask for people to share their stories and ask for opinions on your stories, it does give a discussion and will probably not be considered as spam.

Chances are that if anyone posts a story, people are going to criticize it even if the author doesn't mention that.

Well then again, most of the threads in Misc aren't really that important. For example, my Xenotype threads, I think, can stay, because there are discussions in there that relate to scratch. ? I think.

I support paddle2see on this one.

I don't think there's such thing as a pointless reason. It just doesn't sound right to me.
And Paddle2See did have a reason to close the Ding Fries are Done. The thread didn't have any purpose, and there was no knowledge to be gained there. So it was pretty much spam.

If you think a mods closed your topic for the wrong reason, press the report button and give all the reasons why it should be opened, and explain the real meaning of it. If the Scratch team agrees with you, then they will reopen the thread. You just have to put up a really convincing argument
