Read here to learn more about chatrooms
There has been a lot of talk about having chatrooms in Scratch.
The Scratch website does not and (most likely) will never have chatrooms. We do not have the resources or the interest at this point to support the monitoring of chatrooms. User-driven monitoring is not an option for a chatroom that involves minors. We have enough work with dealing with the projects and comments on the site as it is right now.
So sorry but no chatrooms.
We also want to discourage people from using the forums, galleries and projects as a chatrooms.
As you might know some members have created their own websites with forums and even chatrooms. You are free to do that as it is outside the realm of what Scratch is about. You might also have noticed that a few users were arguing about the list of chatrooms. So if that happens just with a list of chatrooms imagine what happens with the chatrooms themselves 
Anyway, if you have anything to say about this topic this is the thread where it should be posted. Any other threads about chatrooms will be closed as they do not seem to provide any valuable information about Scratch.

thank you. Its finally resolved. Also I get it why you cant make them. But i do know that pun can. Just why not get moderators that can work well with the chatrooms and can be on alot. Or like 24 hours. Like alot of people. Also just to tell you I would be out of the question because Im gone like half the summer. But if you dont make a chatroom with scratch moderators how about making a messageing system. You may delete my post if you want but this is just to figure stuff out maybe.

YES!!! It is so annoying clicking Show new posts last visit and just seeing a whole bunch of Lists of chat rooms, my scratch caht room, ect. ect., you get the point. I like Scratch, but I don't like scratch chat rooms. That is my opinion though. I don't want to offend anyone who loves them or something. And one more thing.

What about posts acting as chat rooms? Actually, they usually end up giving some useful information related to Scratch. This one is nine pages long but sheds light on false usernames and using foreign characters on the site. Please don't close it! We all lov it!

I believe the comment block (or something similar) is scheduled to be re-released this summer with 1.3. I'm really looking forward to it!

If you register on my forum, there's a live chat box on the bottom of the homepage. I chat with ihaveamac a LOT on it, all the members on it are from scratch except 1 or 2. go to -LINK- There's also no ads (if your logged it) or pop ups. (if you get a new private message, (people can send private messages to you so no one else sees it) if you have a pop up blocker, it may block the pop up that says, you have just recieved a new private message.)
