challenge for all you scratch mod creators!

can you guys tell me how I could
1. add colors to my scratch mod
2. add old scratch fonts to my scratch mod
3. tell me if these are even possible?

feel free to add them to your scratch mod too if you can find out how!  i'd love to see some of the old fonts again!

Re: challenge for all you scratch mod creators!

these are not hard techniques.
many mods have the first one already (purrito for example).
the second one is almost impossible (i know how but you can't do it)

Re: challenge for all you scratch mod creators!

oh no that's not what i meant about the first one, i meant adding colors to the edit costume area (where you can pick which color with the eyedropper tool)  it would be cool if there were a little more default color shades there)

Re: challenge for all you scratch mod creators!

You cannot add fonts to Scratch itself, but you can install fonts onto your computer and then Scratch will read them (because it does not have its own fonts, but instead uses the ones already installed on your computer).

The old Scratch fonts are around somewhere, I just can't remember where.

Yawn.

Re: challenge for all you scratch mod creators!

yah I was hoping there would be some way to add default fonts to a scratch mod so that others could use them, but this way would only work for my computer.

anybody know how i can add more default color shades?

Re: challenge for all you scratch mod creators!

Not sure about the color picker one, but you could put the fonts you wanted to include inside an installer, and have it install the fonts on their computer.

Re: challenge for all you scratch mod creators!

Okay, I think I've got it. What operating system are you using, so I can give you better instructions?

Re: challenge for all you scratch mod creators!

Okay, perfect!  smile

So first, go to the start menu, and click the Run button on the lower right. Type in "iexpress.exe" (without the quotes) and click Ok. The IExpress window should open up. Hit Next, then select "Extract files only." Next again, and type in your package name. (Whatever you want it to be.) Click next, and it will ask if you want a Confirmation prompt. Unfortunately, right now, the user needs to select the right folder, so put this prompt in:

Make sure you choose "C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\" as the install directory.

Next again; click "do not display a license", and next. Now click the "add" button and browse to the font(s) you want to include, then click open. The font(s) should be added to the packaged files list; hit next. Hit next past the "show window" options. Under "finished message", just enter in whatever message you want to show after the install. On the Package name and options section, browse to where you want to save the installer, name it, and click save. On the next section, you don't need an SED file, so click "don't save" and next. Next again, and you should be done!  big_smile

I hope that made sense. If you got a little lost in that wall of text, try this site. It gives you some visuals and a little more context to help you out.

I'll work on seeing if I can make a version that puts the font in the fonts folder automatically; no promises though!

Re: challenge for all you scratch mod creators!

No problem!  big_smile  I actually never knew about it either until someone posted a thread (I can't find it) on how to package scratch and a project with this so a project could be run as an exe file. There are other programs that allow more flexibility, but this is great because you don't need to install anything.
