Reeeeeeaally hard Math/ Physics Q

Ok, I'm trying to make something like RHY's rope simulation, but with only one rope segment.  Basically, I need to figure out how to calculate the turning velocity so that I can figure out how to calculate the x and y velocities, so I can get accurate movement.  Anyone think they can solve it?

Variables:
Distance
Direction
Xvelocity
Yvelocity
X
Y
Directional velocity

well, how are you planning to make a loose rope with only 1 stiff segment?

Not a loose rope, just a rope.
