Re: 3D programs

Google sketchup All the way.
It allows easy creation of 3D obkects, exporting of animations, etc.
Plus, the sketchy physics plugin is great for physics simulations!

Re: 3D programs

The only problem with google sketchup is it's limitations in materials and animation. If you want really cool looking graphics, it is much more difficult, or impossable, to acheive the same results in sketchup, than in blender.

Sketchup does have one big plus, it's easy to learn. (or so I've hear.) The big downside, it's very limited.

Re: 3D programs

Definitely Blender, for the animations, but Sketchup for modeling stuff.

Re: 3D programs

Blender is great for beginners to modeling
And it can animate and make games as well. It also has a built in renderer
Get Blender!

Uh... this topic is a little old

Re: 3D programs

M0rfeusman trust me use Alice, it probably lacks some functions but then all you need to do is get the newest versions and probably there you will find them, also if you still can't find them then send an email to the company who made Alice and ask them if they can add the functions you need. Also mouseDown does actually exist.

This isn't the place to ask for help, try asking some questions in the All about Scratch forum.  smile

Re: 3D programs

A very good starting point could be Unreal Technologies. Gears of War was made using this program. If your PC isn't powerful enough Unity3D is also another good starting point. Good Luck!!!

Re: 3D programs

You could do things properly and use c# and XNA. I tried this and knowing a bit of c# helped but following a good tutorial helped me a make a 2d pong game. I know thats 2d but thats the best way to learn.  smile
Also thats what xbox 360 game developers use. You could make a game for xbox!!  big_smile
