Here is a guide on spriting a fakemon. Make sure that you have looked at part one already.
Step 1: Base
I have two ways to get a bse for my sprite. 1: Draw it from scratch, or 2: Take it from another pokemon sprite. Just pick another pokemon sprite that looks like what you want, or just draw it pixel by pixel. I just drew a circle for Seaclown.
Step 2: Features
Then add features. Again, you can take them from another pokemon or draw them yourself. I drew on a top fin, side fin, and a tail on Seaclown. I also added an eye.
Step 3: Basic Color
Pick your basic color and color the whole thing in, just that color. Seaclown's is orange.
Step 4: Basic Shading
Pick a darker shade of your basic color and shade with it. When shading, choose what angle the sun is coming from and draw the shadows on the exact opposite side from that.
Step 5: Basic Highlights
Now pick a lighter shade of your basic color. Put it exactly where the sun is supposedly shining on your sprite. Do this on eyes to by added shines.
Step 6: Color Details
You may choose other colors for your pokemon an add them in the pattern you like. For Seaclown, we will add with stripes on it and black tips on its fins and tail. Shade those details to.
Step 7: Outline Coloring
Right now, your outline is probably just black. You need to shade and highlight it as well. Pick a very dark version of your basic color, but still lighter than black, and put that where the sun is shining. You can do it in layers, getting brighter and brighter too.
Step 8: Touch Ups
Now just add any more details to touch it up and make it look perfect
The final Seaclown sprite:
And there you have it! A beautiful sprite. Stay in tune for part 3: Starting your own fakedex.

You play Pokemon?

I don't see why playing pokemon is considered an embarrassment in these modern times...

I'm going to highschool soon... I'll still be a pokemon addict

I'm a rising freshman in high school.
I'm not a pokemon addict anymore, at least not as much as I was a few years ago, but IDK.
In 8th grade, I only talked about Pokemon to a few people at the beginning of the year, and then stopped altogether. Mostly because most of my friends are the sportsy type.

K, I'll try making it with a smaller background. I tried and failed again with Draqua

Normally if you are a beginner at pokemon spriting, start by using a lot more other pokemon as bases. Don't jump straight to making them completely or almost from scratch. And one tip: Don't give up! I mean it, if you keep doing it more and more you will get better. And- update old sprites. Want to see a picture of the first riceroll?

I get what you are saying about don't give up but the shading I think is what runs them for me and sure I'd like to see an old riceroll
