Yeah, but they should be used sparingly, shouldn't they?
Hmm...I think that some words that are used instead of bad words really don't have the same meaning as the original word. They are still not good, but they aren't as bad.
Exactly.

What is it that makes them different from the original word? They still mean it the same way, though it may not sound like that to other people.

And then it was used as an insult. It still does mean donkey. Anyway, the other version is different from the donkey version, if you know the word I'm talking about.

Yes, but the British version distinctly means "bottom"

Actually, I think the meaner version evolved from the orginal definition.
Its people who make bad words bad.

This is an old idea...
What I think is that humans needed a way to express ways of intense anger or frustration and so created words that don't have religious meaning but are insulting.

They're bad words now, they've got innappropriate meanings now. Why exactly are we discussing this? If it's some attempt to change the rules of the site, I'm pretty sure sanddude has remade his topic by now.

Wow.
Last year a bunch of kids in my class would look up swear/inapropriate words in the dictionary. And then they'd show the teacher.

No. I'm just wondering. Jeez. I like the rules of the site. No offense to him, but I don't really like sandude.

I hope he doesn't read this or he'll make another 'Post here if you don't hate me' topic.

Why are bad words "bad words"? It's not like if you say them (maybe if you are religous, sorry) a puppy dies, they're just sounds your mouth makes. I'm not encouraging you to cuss or be a pottymouth, I just don't get it. It's not like if a bird happened to make that sound it would be a bad bird, right?
The only problem is, cussing out of context makes no sense and if you're cussing in context your talking about something you probably shouldn't be.

Auctually it depends because things such as the F word are needed (verb), but not things as such as the D word or the B word.(replaced with things like * and idiot)

Woah, what?
Okay let's not go down this path. Shift the subject, somebody else. Keep it on topic though.
