What I Learned From My "Less Strict Rules On Scratch Thread".

NOTES: Thanks to Lightnin for encouraging me to make this! U rock, Lightnin! cool
Please keep all discussions respectful and clean, as I do not want this to be closed again.

Here's the Less Strict Rules On Scratch thread!

Here are:

3 Common Arguments That Make A Good Point Against My Point
1. We should keep it to every parents level of satisfaction, not just some.
2. There are 5 year old's on Scratch.
3. There is no need to use H**l and C**p

What I have to say about them
1. But every parent has a different view what's inappropriate. We are only using one view (which is everything that could be considered offensive).
2. Yes, there are 5 year old's on Scratch, but not as many as 10-15 year old (who most that I know, can say c**p)
3. Of course. There is no need to use it, but we should be allowed to, if we want to (see above arguments).

Now, I think since the forums are more accessible than projects to 5-year-old's, h**l and c**p SHOULD be censored on the forums, but a bit more obviously (I mean instead of [removed] replace it with "c**p").

However, in projects it should be allowed, but with some limits.
The limit's should be:
1. If a mod finds a project with the words, he/she puts a warning in the project notes.
2. If the project is flagged, it is put in the "not for everyone" category.
3. If a user is under 10, or not logged in, not for everyone projects can not be viewed. (And if a user is 10 or over, he/she could have the option to block viewing of not for everyone projects) Of course, someone could lie about there age, but that would be their fault.

However, I think bathroom words SHOULD be allowed, and in no means censored. Because, for EVERYONE I know, you don't talk about at church, the dinner table, or some kind of public place, but otherwise it's fine.

Discuss, and pretty please with sugar on top keep it FRIENDLY!

Re: What I Learned From My "Less Strict Rules On Scratch Thread".

Also, for blood think about how it is portrayed. Is it from a bullet hitting a face, or stepping on a splinter? Is it realistic or is it just red stuff created in the paint editor? Is it used every time you blink, or does it occur once or twice? Keep those in mind, before we just ban all blood.

Re: What I Learned From My "Less Strict Rules On Scratch Thread".

My opinion on the should be allowed...
1. I'll remove it right after it's added.

2. If a project is flagged, it's put in not for everybody? That means some idiot could just flag every front page project until theirs was on the front page.

3. Look at #2.

EDIT: blood thing: blood gets banned, I will spam the server until it lags and crashes.

If a project is flagged. Not if a project is flagged over 10 times. Not over 5 times. Once.

How do we know if it has hell or *, we can't search the project without playing it. And people could lie.

It will be the same as current. Mod will look at project, but if it has h**l or c**p it's not for everybody. Get it?

Why do we need this system if it's exactly the same as the current one

All of your arguments seem to be based around the idea that you want to say * cause you think it's cool, please just leave it, why do you need to say it anyway?

Some of your ideas are good, some are bad. The issue about saying bad words - just leave it, your not going to change anything, and probably no one except you care. The other ideas are good, but slightly flawed, but nonetheless ideas.

See above argument^. Also, why do you feel the need to say that word? What does cussing do for you? Is it a way to express yourself that you cannot express in normal, non-crude words?

sanddude wrote:

See first argument. xD

Why go to so much trouble for a problem that can easily be avoided? Just ban cussing period. Statement. Declarative sentence.

Oooh, I like this! I would be able to post a few more of my pictures, and put different songs in. And anyway, if crāp is censored, why isn't hell? It my opinion,  hell is a worse swear than crāp. If you can call them swears.

@juststickman, I don't think crashing is a good idea....  hmm

EDIT: Yeah, crashing the sever is a bad idea, because Scratch wouldn't probably work anymore and the Scratch Team would get mad.

You can use it all you want with 2 exceptions:

- Religious fights
- Insulting other users

I think I'm correct in saying that you are allowed to say "what the hell."

Actually, what the hell would be a bad one, as would who where how when and why
I think the only acceptable way to use it is when you say a certain religion believes in hell

Re: What I Learned From My "Less Strict Rules On Scratch Thread".

You keep using the "every parent has a different view what's inappropriate. We are only using one view" argument. Well, yes, because...

Ok, sorry, but the logic to that is so loose that I can't think of a way to directly explain why it's wrong. So here's a parable:

"Once there was a city called Terphitron. In it lived many people. There were three kinds of common deadly viral diseases in Terphitron; Pseudoplasmic Anemia, Eschrosyndrome, and AIDS. Every day, all three would plague the city, unless a ward against it is being placed, and everyone who isn't naturally immune would be infected.

"Regarding natural immunities against these diseases, there were five genetic possibilities. A person could either:
1. Be immune against all of them (85 percent of the population)
2. Be immune against only Pseudoplasmic Anemia (5 percent of the population)
3. Be immune against only AIDS (4 percent of the population)
4. Be immune against Pseudoplasmic Anemia and Eschrosyndrome (5 percent of the population)
5. Or be immune against none of the three. (1 percent of the population)

"The city has an infinite amount of wards, so each day they place all three kinds, to ensure that no one gets any of the diseases.

"But one day, some kids go up to the government and say, 'But only one percent of the population is vulnerable to all three diseases. Since most of the people are immune to all of them, why should we just go with the ones who are vulnerable to all, and place all the wards, since that would only be using the "vulnerable to all" view?'"

Now. Is the kids' argument valid?
