Not going to try and name anyone, but there was a project ages ago with a really neat 3D engine.
Just a while ago someone stole it and used a certain glitch/trick (I know what he did) to remove the "Based on ____s project" and gave no credit.
He then got famous, and got all the love-its and took all the glory.
Not so long ago someone else took THAT project, made the movement more laggy, added a few non-working "enemies", gave no credit and now they have got on the front page THREE TIMES!
Although I understand scratch is about sharing and remixing, its also about making your own games and being creative, not robbing people of an invention and getting all the fame!

Actually, people hated his game, it only has around 10 love-its. The 3D engine didn't work, the enemies didn't work, and he had no idea how to program at all apparently. The quality of project on the front page are getting worse and worse.

Scratch is becoming like ROBLOX.

"47 people love it"
But I agree, front page is getting worse.
A while ago a project with 2 swears in it got curated along with a project just containing a copyrighted song.

That curator (not naming) was probably the worst so far...

I agree with all.
It's sad to see all this happening, such as the spamming on the forums. Things frontpaged are getting worser in quality now, and some curators (let's not say the names) are just selecting a bunch of junk.

Me too. It used to be full of good stuff, but actually, we wanted to give other people a chance, so now we've got all this junk.

Thats right! I used to find lots of goodies on the front page, but now they're all gone. Now, we should all just go right past it and do our other Scratch stuff.
Sigh... what will the other half of 2010 be like for Scratch?

I guess Scratch should take away the "Import Project" button, because that way the "Based on ____'s project" will appear. But then iSyn, a project that many people love, will not be able to run...

Make it give credit if you import projects.

That's close to impossible, because the Scratch project's digital signature gets erased and reset.

Of course not! Each curator has their own preference and there's no real right answer. I always look forward to see what will be curated next It's whatever the user prefers.

I hope not you curated one of my projects XD
The curator I was talking about curated a 4 second animation that had 2 swear words in it and the animation was just someone holding up a certain finger to the camera.
And another project that was just some google images along to some copyrighted music,

Apart from some funny stuff, yes.

...which shows us once again that you can't please everybody all the time. That's the whole point behind the Curated section...to allow people with different interests to share them with the rest of the community. Don't feel bad if your picks didn't please everybody - it's pretty much impossible

Back to the topic: The Front Page is Junk. You know, when I first started Scratch, I thought the front page was for cool projects. Now it has apparently been converted to the "Worst Projects" page.

We were talking about the Top Viewed and Top Loved sections mainly.

Well, while there are many bad things on the front page, occasionaly you can find those "good picks" in there....

No, none of the curators ever curated junk. I'm just saying that the selected projects themselves are pretty good, it's just that there was some copyrighted material or something that people didn't look closely at. Besides, curators are supposed to have something of their own to choose! If I don't like a curator's selections, it's probably I prefer something else.
