Sticky Title... "Simple guide to getting help in this forum" or something like that.
Then it should list (as few as possible) suggestions like...
Upload your project.
Start a new forum post with a link to it (See guide below)
In your message, list what doesn't work and what you want it to do.
Then follow that with a short guide to making the link.
I think this would be a good idea because people often just vaguely mention having a problem without uploading and/or linking the project so we have to ask for this repeatedly. It also helps alleviate people guessing at often unneeded fixes because they don't yet understand the problem.
Please comment on this and suggest changes or alternatives that you find helpful! Or blast it out of the sky if you prefer

Makes sense. The sticky should also have a list of commonly asked about questions. (Eg: How to make a scroller.)
Isn't that what FAQ is for?

Yeah, but I don't think most people new to Scratch check that. (or even notice it) Including which questions are asked the most, and then linking to the FAQ articles, would help stop the almost daily request for help with scrolling.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It also does't help that you can't post new topics in FAQ...

I've never looked through the FAQ once.

So now we would need somebody to make this sticky / ITopic... Get Jonathanpb and Chrischb here! They're the guys for the job.

Well, All About Scratch has ITopics. This sticky could be a sort of sub-ITopic... It's a great idea! It could get a bit confusing, though

Why not a whole iTopic? It may not have as much information, but it would still be important

Well, I meant it would be like an ITopic within the whole ITopic system. (I love ITopics, if you didn't know ) Sort of like Cheddargirl's Post It! Program It! etc, posts.

Can you explain the system again? Also, where can we even find any iTopics?

The single sticky at the top of AAS and Advanced is an Index Topic, or ITopic for short. It holds links to many other useful threads, and was an incentive to clean up the excessive stickies.

Okay, that makes sense now. I've heard about that system, but I thought iTopics were unrelated. Thanks

So what would it be called then? If it's an ITopic inside of an ITopic, won't that just be redundent? Why couldn't it become a real ITopic?

My idea was to keep it separate from any how-to-script stuff like the current sticky as it is specifically for posters to get good, fast help in the AAS forum, not for general Scratch usage solutions. This is actually a very common feature in non-Scratch forums, often called How to Use This Forum or something similar and is usually made after people get tired of having to constantly ask for the same basic nfo from new forum users. By keeping it separate, it gets noticed easier (and vice versa for the other sticky.)

So it's a 'Look here before you ask for help' kind of thing?

No, no, it's an ITopic in itself - but the topics linked within are topics within ITopics.

Uhh... It's 3:00 AM and I'm too tired and confused to understand that. So the ITopic has links inside of it that are inside the ITopic?? That's what you wrote. So it would become an ITopic that's linked to from another ITopic? Aren't they all linked to from the ITopic sticky? Or it would only become a regular topic linked from an ITopic, linked from the Index Sticky?

An ITopic is a topic that is linked from the sticky in All About Scratch. They all have the term ITopic in their title, and they're a substitute for stickies. What I was suggesting was to make another ITopic - this one - with links to other non-ITopics in it, so it is similar in nature to the sticky. Aurgh, this is getting confusing
