I recently received this message:
Please be more respectful to others in your comments. Read the Terms of Use from the link at the bottom of every page. Thank you.
My problem with this message is it says nothing about what you did, or what comment was 'bad', which can be very helpful if you'd like to improve.

Hmmm...this does seem like it could be a problem. It's hard to get what you're trying to say across with only text sometimes, so you could mis-word your comment without even realizing it. Maybe a moderator could clear this up?

I thought moderators only moderated the forums...

Yeah, moderators only manage the forums - but they're some people you can trust to try and help you out.
Wouldn't it be a bit obvious which comment was bad though? I'd think that you'd be able to figure out what you did that was bad...

Look through your recent comments, and if you find one missing, that was probably it. It's an automatic server response, that sometimes deletes the comment, but it acts like it was posted.

You're right that there is an automatic message generated by the censor filter on the website...but that ones tells you that it is an automatic message. The one being discussed here was generated by an administrator.
Sunrise-Moon can use the Contact Us form or send an email directly to help@scratch.mit.edu and it will go to the people administering the website...they can probably give Sunrise-Moon the reason the message was sent

I've seen that the new message system tells you which posts were removed or are disrespectful, but I thought that the comments would show it too. I mean when I commented Skyscraper once, it told me that it was the comment removed even though it was by the automatic censor.

We agree, the system could be more clear. We came up with a plan that would cause comments removed by Scratch Team to generate a notification / message. So that way for each comment that was deleted, you'd get a message like:
The Scratch Team removed the comment "[whatever the removed comment was]"
And you'd also see a message from Scratch Team like the one you received:
"Please be more respectful to others in your comments. Read the Terms of Use from the link at the bottom of every page. Thank you."
I think that would make things more clear. I'm not sure when we can get enough engineering time to make this happen, but we hope soon!

That sounds like a much better way to do it .

The Scratch Team removed your comment "<COMMENT HERE>" from the project "<PROJECT NAME HERE>" by <PROJECT MAKER'S USERNAME HERE> for the following reason: <REASON HERE>. Please be more respectful to others in your comments. Read the Terms of Use from the link at the bottom of every page. Thank you and Scratch on!

The following reason? Lightnin was talking about an automated system.

I agree, I've had 1 or 2 warnings and not understood why...
