Although if the person had minor hacking or coding skills they could've easily disguised themselves as this.

True, but I'm not sure they'd go to those lengths. Besides, it's illegal to impersonate someone and threaten people under that impersonation.

Yeah, especially since that is an email using the domain which the Scratch Team bought. Only accounts for feedback and anything related to the site are made from that domain, and only the Scratch Team can make those accounts. That is a serious problem, so try contacting the Scratch Team  smile

You could say it wasn't a threat, just a suggestion or warning. That's what emails from scratch are.
And many trolls don't care about the law. I used to be part of a troll community so I know. Trolls simply don't care.
Also, they could've just changed their title to that, because sometimes gmail only shows that if you have it set . . . But then they'd have to know me.

Forward the email to the actual Scratch team, that should clear things up.

What if it is from the actual Scratch Team? They haven't said anything in this topic so far so we can't be certain.

Then they'll say "Sorry, but that e-mail truly was from the Scratch Team." It's not like they'll get mad.

How could we get them here? Would using the report button work? Because this isn't really an urgent matter.

Any mods can see a report, so there's only a small chance that the Scratch team would answer it. Instead, you'd use the Contact Us button at the bottom of the page.

Re: Not a technical suggestion, but an ethical one . . .

Why don't you just contact the team directly at help@scratch.mit.edu?  This sounds like some kind of personal problem between you and them rather than something the forum can address.  Give them an email...then you will know if you are getting trolled or not  smile
